Used Xfinity Wi-Fi extender pod 1st gen

I purchased a used first-generation Xfinity xFi Pod. The Pod appears to still be associated with the previous owner’s Xfinity account, so the Xfinity app will not let me activate it.

This is not a modem restart, Wi-Fi signal, Pod placement, Bluetooth, Ethernet, or password issue. I need the Pod’s serial number manually checked and the Pod unlinked, deactivated, or deprovisioned from the previous account.

I have the serial number available. Can you please check whether you have access to remove the previous account association? If you do not have access, please escalate this to the xFi Pod provisioning team, Advanced Technical Support, or a supervisor who can manually clear the Pod’s account assignment.

Thank you for sharing that you will not be moving forward with the extenders, @Arlowemo7600i. If you decide to go that route in the future, the instructions to remove and add WiFi Extenders are shown here, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/activate-xfi-pod-with-xfi-app.

The seller would need to follow these steps to remove WiFi Extenders from their account using the Xfinity app so you could then activate them.

  1. Sign in to the Xfinity app.
  2. Go to the WiFi tab.
  3. Tap View WiFi equipment.
  4. Select the WiFi Extender you want to remove.
  5. Tap Device details.
  6. Tap Remove WiFi Extender.
  7. When asked, tap Remove.

Repeat these steps to remove other WiFi Extenders from the account.

Hello user_z7c81b, thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums! While there is nothing wrong with buying Xfinity Wi-Fi extenders on the secondary market, this can cause issues like we're experiencing right now. In order to best assist you, we'd like to direct you to our  Customer Security Assurance Team

Business Hours: 8:00am - 12:00am EST, 7 days a week

Contact: 1-888-565-4329.

This is due to the fact that we'll potentially be making changes to an account to which you are not an authorized user or account manager.

@XfinityAlfonso Since this is such a big issue. The Seller on eBay has issued me a refund. I'll be throwing the device away. So much for trying to beat the high price of the Xfinity Gen 2 Wi-Fi extenders.

Xfinity's own document states to contact customer service for the transfer of a used pod from one account to another. All you get is the run around if you try to do something like this using the Xfinity app and live customer support.
