Unsolicited phone call to update or upgrade

Yesterday I received a phone call from somebody claiming to be from Comcast/Xfinity. He stated that our TVs were outdated (they're not) and we needed to upgrade or update our service. It would cost $130 which would be refunded over the course of six months. It all sounded fishy and I declined the offer. I'm not sure what the end game was.

We  switched to Comcast/Xfinity awhile ago and have had no problems whatsoever. Has anybody else received a call like this?

Hi, kschurin68! We're happy to have you here in the community, thanks for posting! Unfortunately, yes, what you experienced is something that is pretty common when it comes to phone service regardless of the carrier. Sometimes the caller is who they say they are and sometimes they're not. It's not always easy to tell. We understand it can be unsettling, which is why we have some things in place to help avoid certain unwanted phone calls. Here is a great link that can be used as a resource: https://comca.st/2TOY3J0. Were you able to check the caller ID and see what phone number the call came from by chance?

We got a similar call this morning from a wireless number. We also declined, though I do have a number if you are interested.

Yes I just did. And got suspicious when he wanted to confirm I’m the account holder by giving him my name. I refused and hung up. We didn’t get to me having to pay anything?

Many Robo callers give you a fake ID name, and call from a different number to avoid your "blocking" the call.   Just ignore the call and hang up.

If you are not having problems don't worry about it, and never give personal information to the caller.
