Text Message from xFinity Assistant asking me to schedule an appointment
I just received the following text message:
Hi, it's Xfinity Assistant. You now have faster upload speeds, but it looks like a technician will need to make your home at <Edited: “Personal Information”>
compatible to receive them. Schedule a free appointment to unlock faster upload speeds.
1-Yes, let's schedule
2-No, not right now
I responded "2-No, not right now" and got the following response:
OK. A technician appointment is recommended as our data shows there may be issues with your connection.
This may cause problems in the future;
My first question is whether this is a legit message from xFinity?
Second question is what does this mean? What kind of "issues" might there be with my connection and what kind of future problems could I have?
My experience has been that when faster speeds are offered, they are followed by higher monthly bills. I have the absolute lowest package and our monthly bill just jumped from $207 to $250! I would actually like lower speeds because I don't upload and don't stream content.
Thanks,
TGB

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@user_zqugzr Hello, thanks for the post! To answer the first quest, yes, that text does sound like it's from us.
The second answer is that we have been upgrading services throughout the country that causes increases in the internet speed focusing on the upload speeds. This link is a great resource for updates areas that have the Next Generation internet installed: https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/wiki/knowledgebase/next-generation-internet/.
At times technicians are needed to get the new speeds coming into the home. There also isn't a direct increase in price because of this. Are you experiencing any service issues recently?
