Temporary relocation to rental with internet but not cable tv

Hi, we are living in a temporary location (rental) while our home is being renovated. The rental has xfinity internet, but not cable TV. It is only about 100 yards away from our permanent residence.

Would it work for us to just use our cable box from home at the rental? That is, just hook it up to the coax in the rental?

We don't want to move our service to the rental...the landlord wouldn't be supportive of that, since as I mentioned she already has xfinity service.

Thanks.

Hey there, user_3jyuct, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your cable services at your temporary location. Connecting a cable box to the rental's coax will only work if cable services are set up at the address. You could connect a streaming box like a Roku or something similar and use our Xfinity Stream app to watch your cable services. However, some channels are not available when you are not connected to your in-home network. Here is a link to the networks that will work outside your home, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/tv-go-live-streaming-networks. Let us know if you have any additional questions. We are happy to help!

I think you will love the Xfinity Stream app as it is a great way to watch on the go and included with your Xfinity Cable services! Here is a link with more details on getting started with the app, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/getting-started-xfinity-tv-mobile-app. There are a lot of different devices the app will work on. I love to watch on my iPad while traveling! Let us know if we can help with anything else!
