Tech said the line from the street to my house is bad and needs replacement. How do I get that scheduled?
A technician came out yesterday (August 24) for intermittent internet drops. He tested the overhead line running from the street to my house and said it's bad. His meter showed two large noise spikes on it, and he told me the line needs to be replaced. He said he works mostly inside the house and couldn't replace the line himself.
He did replace the connection hardware on the side of my house (new grounding block and fittings) and my service worked fine right after. Since yesterday it has been slipping again. My modem is transmitting at higher and higher power to stay connected. OFDMA was at 52 dBmV after his visit and is now hitting 55-56, which matches what he found on the line.
A few questions:
- Did yesterday's visit create a referral to replace the line? If so, can I get the ticket number and a timeframe?
- If there's no referral, can you open one? The technician already determined the line is bad. It crosses the street and is in contact with a tree, so does it need a specialized crew instead of a regular visit?
- I have another regular tech visit scheduled. Should I keep it or cancel it if the line is being replaced?
I have photos of the line and the tree contact, plus my modem's signal logs if helpful. Thanks.
