Target gift card scam

They got me. But they tried a second time and I realized it was a scam.  They eliminated my $470 balance by putting in a payment of $470. They obviously have access to xfinity accounts. I paid them $750 with Target gift cards.

Hello user_jtb89i , This is a known scam. Whoever is doing this is making payments on accounts and then reversing them. Making payments on an account doesn't require access just the address they want to make a payment towards. Comcast/Xfinity will never ask you to provide any gift cards for payment in any scenario. If you ever have concerns regarding the account we always say call our main number 1-800-934-6489.  For more tips to avoid scams please visit. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/protect-yourself-phone-scams

If you have gotten a call claiming to be from Comcast asking you to buy gift cards or paying upfront for six months or more in exchange for 50% off your bill the FTC is well aware of this scam.  If you get a call like this you can report it to:     https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
The FTC also has a great webpage on Scams.  Please check it out as well.
For Target Gift Cards:
Call 1 (800) 544-2943 and follow Target’s instructions.
Keep a copy of the Target gift card or your store receipt.
Please help to stop the spread of this kind of fraud.
Thanks!

@Again  I’ve given Xfinity the 833 phone number that these scammers are using. My first call about this number was about 1 1/2 months ago. You’d think they work with the authorities to shut them down. Nope the number is still up and running. So seems like Xfinity doesn’t care. The people I talked to at Xfinity are worthless. Just give you lip service.  Totally inept.

I paid $660 in this same scam.  I request that Xfinity send a written notice to all its customers warning of this and similar scams involving Xfinity/Comcast. This seems to me a simple and fair request, and an opportunity to demonstrate good corporate responsibility.  Thank you

You know what’s crazy? This happened to me and the $120 they paid to my account was of course reversed and now it shows that I owe it!!! I’ve talked to 4 separate agents and I was assured that it would be sorted and here we are. I am not paying for a scammers fraud payment especially when they know this scam is going around!!!!! I am really over Xfinity and this headache.
