Several Long-Term Privacy/Security Issues That Xfinity Has Repeatedly Ignored
I've had several long-term privacy/security issues with Xfinity that have never been appropriately addressed or handled, specifically Xfinity's routers, internet service, app, and whatwebsite, i.e., my account.
For starters, I just went to cookie preference settings in the Xfinity App and this is what I find every time and have to disable (where possible):
Strictly Necessary Cookies
(73 First-Party, 20 Third-Party)
Personalized Advertising Cookies
(144 First-Party, 81 Third-Party)
Analytics Performance Cookies
(57 First-Party, 12 Third-Party)
Functional Cookies
(108 First-Party, 29 Third-Party)
Apparently, I am the only one who thinks 524 cookies in an app or on a website, many if which are repeated several times in a row, is odd.
Another issue is the number of slightly different addresses associated with my account, i.e., Apt 817, Unit 817, and # 817, which Xfinity refuses to rectify. Each addresses's privacy settings are independent of the others, and the "Unit 817" address (supposedly Xfinity's "service address" for my account) shows "Houston, TX 77070/1044165480-099." No idea what that's all about.
Further, my account (shown as # 817 by default and which I am not able to change myself) says it's linked to two other accounts, one of which shows the same account number but with no spaces between the numbers, and another which shows no name or address, just some random different account number. Again, no idea.
My emails to Xfinity regarding the linked accounts have been ignored, which isn't all that surprising since Xfinity fails to provide email contact information for its security team - or whatever they call themselves - but rather a phone number, which puts me in touch with someone I usually can't understand, who isn't equipped to help me anyway. Once I got a random desk/computer number to email, but that was a dead-end as well. Once their shift ended, that was that. Another anonymous person I'll likely never talk to again.
These types of privacy/security concerns are generally supported and explained best via screenshots, but there's no specific email account or contact information that Xfinity provides to whom to send such information, which falls short of customer support, to say the least, for customers whose privacy or account security has been compromised. I have wasted countless hours of my time repeating the same information over and over on telephone calls to many different anonymous agents in a far-away land in a futile attempt to receive customer service when I've needed it the most. My conclusion is that Xfinity execs, who should be stepping forward and doing something to at least acknowledge and address my concerns, really couldn't care less.
I guesss it's lucky for me to have unlimited data usage since the group of hackers using my internet uses more data than I do; however, it hardly makes my streaming service operate and function like it should. And no, I'm not interested in paying for faster download speeds for my hackers' benefit, so please do not further insult me by offering the upsell.
The band-aid fix of sending me another new router, which has been the only "solution" offered by agents thus far, seems pretty pointless. Like they're not gonna hack the third one? How about getting to the root of each problem instead and offering some real solutions? Is that such a crazy concept? I mean, it's Xfinity's products and services that are very obviously not secure, so logic should dictate that these aren't my problems to fix, they're Xfinity's problems to fix. I'm the victim here.
While my current Xfinity router works, it's been hacked and reprogrammed, and I've been locked out of the admin tool, which is just as well since factory resets don't work, some settings are missing, and some settings can't be changed. I've disabled hotspots in my account, yet I often have to remove 10+ connected devices at a time from my hotspot that aren't even mine, even though it says I've registered them. How does that work? I gave up trying to manage my internet service. It's just not possible on my end.
Here's the transcript of my chat with Xfinity Assistant in the Xfinity App today. It would be funny if it weren't so frustrating:

Your post may have been made "Private" because you used all caps. A forum violation considered yelling
If you select the lock symbol on the URL line you can remove all the current cookies on the site. Some may have built up over time. After doing that you may need to sign back into the site. At this point I would avoid blocking the current cookies found there. There should be fewer cookies. For some stupid reason the programmer uses cookies in the coding.
