Setting up a wired connection

Hello - recently bought a modem, connected it to the gateway with an RG6 coax cable, then ran an ethernet cable from the modem to my PC. It still does not work, I have reset the gateway multiple times, and done all sorts of troubleshooting from my PC. According to online research, the problem may lie in Xfinity not assigning the correct IP address. Any help is extremely welcome.

Note - running off wifi is not an option, it has proven far too unreliable.

Hey there, @user_nnuf5r , thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums! We would be happy to help you with getting the new modem set up and running! I know how important it is to have everything working. Please send us a Direct Message with your full name and your full address.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
