Service visit charge

Why is customer charged $100 service visit charge for issues due to Comcast’s equipment?  The charge is automatic and the onus put on the customer to get it removed.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to actual Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Thanks @EG for bringing to our attention.

Hi @user_bd6b03! I'd be happy look into the technician fee that was charged. Can you please click the Direct Messaging icon at the top right of the page, click on the pen and pad icon and enter Xfinity Support in the "To" section of the chat and provide us with your first and last name so we may further assist you.

They mention the possible charge when you ask for someone to come out. Normally no charge for something fixed outside.

I have avoided charges by checking all connections inside, resetting all equipment, or getting cable boxes replaced at the nearest service center. The technician that come out normally decides if you get charged. That can happen if he needs to fix something inside your home.

Yes they do warn you of the charge IF work is done inside your house.  They charge you regardless.  This has happened twice and someone on chat finally admitted that they charge you even when clearly the problem is outside your house.  Then it’s so hard to get someone on the phone to have it removed I’ll bet many people just give up and pay it.  It’s Comcast’s plan and there’s probably a line in their budget for ripping people off this way.  It’s horrible and they should be reported to the FCC.

This just happened to us and I can't even begin to say how annoyed we are.   We have been with comcast forever and never did we pay a service fee.  Our problem continued for about a month, service tech came out found nothing wrong with anything in the house and was told it was a Comcast software problem.  The problem was finally corrected at the telephone pole up the street and low and behold there is a $100 service charge on my bill.  When we called to dispute it, we were told that they could credit us half and that the tech is the one who decides if we get charged!  What is wrong with this picture??!!  Is anyone listening at Comcast?....I don't think so!!  I literally have nothing nice to say about Comcast!

I can see I am not alone so thanks for taking the time to read my rant
