scheduled maintenance.

I have some questions about scheduled maintenance in my area. I also have questions about DM etiquette here.

@user_s2edvw This is a great question! We appreciate you making this public post for us. Our Xfinity App is free to download and is the best place to check for scheduled maintenance. Most of the time it's scheduled in the early hours around midnight when most of our customers are not online.

I'm so glad you asked about the forums, I have a link for our guidelines here https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/guidelines/xfinity-forum-guidelines/602da8fdc5375f08cd20b38c

The second link goes over the Dos and Don'ts for the forums https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/guidelines/xfinity-forum-acceptable-use-policy/602d9c64c5375f08cd574236

The Xfinity Assistant said today, “Prepare for Outages. Planned maintenance in your area is scheduled to start on 5/8/2026 1:00 AM (Eastern). You may experience interruptions to all of your Xfinity services during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”  What maintenance are they doing in my area exactly?

user_s2edvw System maintenance is traditionally covering the local node, and connective infrastructure maintenance. Their can be various legs of that signal chain that require improvements to either provide more capability or repair components that send signal to the various homes in your area.

@XfinityTommy

I was told by one Xfinity support agent from the forums to feel free to reach out to Xfinity support anytime in the DMS. Then after I sent a DM I got a DM from another support agent saying I need to be invited by Xfinity support to send a DM. The initial message in the DMs saying, “reach out to Xfinity support anytime” confused me, I didn’t know I couldn’t message anytime. So moving forward I can only DM if an Xfinity employee invites me?

user_s2edvw  Our corporate forums are always available, and are absolutely the best place to get help. The goal of our community is to provide answers for all, so staying as public as possible is the goal, if customers are having issues, having problems stay as public helps provide knowledge for the whole forum. We just ask that you first start any Xfinity Forum interaction by posting your concern in the most appropriate related public board. From there you will start receiving responses right away. Sometimes you may receive a reply from an employee, but more likely, you will receive assistance from another Comcast customer or one of our amazing forums experts. Rest assured, we monitor every post and our team is prepared to step in right away, but each of those interactions begin with a public post to explain the concern.

My question is about DMs specifically here on the Xfinity forum. So is the only way I can DM an official Xfinity employee here is if the Xfinity employee tells me to DM them or if the Xfinity employee Dms me first?
