scams
Beware of a scam going around. You get a phone call that has a caller ID of MICHIGAN CALL and when you answer it there is what sounds like a pre-recorded message from Comcast / Xfinity giving you menu options right away for different offers. One of which is to reduce your cable bill . You are then connected to someone who claims that due to some govt Affordable Connectivity Act they are able to cut your cable bill by $50 a month. However, in order to make this happen there is a small $2-3 charge that needs to be paid by credit card . GOTCHA. That is where they get you. You give them your credit info over the phone , they give you some fancy sales pitch and confirmation number , blah , blah and your cable bill will magically drop due for signing up to this govt subsidy program for internet service. Sure enough a few days later they are using your credit card info to buy stuff online from major retailers , etc.
If you get a phone call like this stop them dead in their tracks and ask for a call back number , hang up and try it because I doubt it will go anywhere. Also contact your Xfinity billing dept to confirm if any such discount offer as such really exists.

This is nothing new. There have been warnings on the site for over nine months. Scammers can spoof any number or ID they wish.
They change it each time in case you blocked the previous number.
Be aware that this has nothing to do with Comcast and if you lose money, it is not their problem. They pull this scam for any popular utility or business.
