Running a separate cable line to a new outbuilding on our property.

Hi,

We are building a detached garage and would like to have internet in the garage.  We buried electric with a conduit.  Can we run a separate line from the wire through the conduit, as opposed to digging a trench and burying the line in our back yard?  If so, how do we arrange for the service to happen, and how much does Xfinity charge for that?  We do not want to have to pay for a separate internet service for a garage.  Thanks!

Hi there, @user_9bfmrl Thank you for taking the time to reach out. Yes, you can run a separate, shielded internet cable (coax or Ethernet) through your existing electric conduit to the detached garage, avoiding a new trench. For Xfinity service, you would ideally run an Ethernet cable from your main home router to a switch or access point in the garage to extend your current service without paying for a new one.-Richard
