Public utility easement letter

I am looking for a public utility easement or encroachment letter to put in an RV pad with a retaining wall on the side of our property. How do I obtain this?

Hi! It sounds like you have some work you are planning around your home and we would be happy to help direct you to who you need to speak with regarding an easement.

Comcast does use the easement for overhead cable lines but we rent this from public utility companies. To obtain information on condition or location of the easement, you would need to contact the public utility company to gain this information and request a letter.

Additional information that may or my not be helpful is that all easements are recorded on the title report for that property by the title company. You may also be able (Edit: Formatting) to gather some information through the title or title company.

@XfinityDevinC So, does this mean that if I already have permission from our other utility companies that I don’t need an additional letter from Xfinity?

Or do I have to get an easement letter from Comcast?

That’s a great question!

Please keep in mind that we have access rights to easements rented from public utilities and the owner of the easement are the ones you would need to speak with. If the work you are doing does restrict the ability to access the easement for service repair or maintenance, we could ask for any obstacles to be moved. However, we do not offer any easement letters. I hope this information is helpful!

You spoke about overhead lines, but what about the underground lines in the easement?  If they are putting an RV pad down, wouldn't they need the easement permission letter for that?

@Again  That is a great call out! Thank you for bringing that up. Let me share this with @user_f6991a (Edit: Formatting) a as well because that is a great thing to go over.

Typically the underground are within 5-FT or so of a sidewalk but that can absolutely be part of the easement as well, to your point. With either scenario, if there are obstructions preventing us from accessing the lines, we would have to ask for that to be moved. I cannot offer advice on what to put down or not to put down but I can state that the intent of the easement is to access our lines for service and maintenance and we do maintain the rights to access this easement at any time. Please keep that in mind with any improvements or construction on a legal easement.
