phone scam

I'm new to xfinity, had my service turned on about a week ago. About an hour ago, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from xfinity. The person started talking about how we discussed the rate for my plan about 10 months ago and how it would be changing in a year, ... The call caught me off guard and without thinking I said, "I'm new to xfinity, I only started my service last week." The person then said something like, "Oh, you're not Mr. Samuels? There must be a mistake here."

I realize now that this must have been some kind of phising attack but it's pretty disconcerting. How in the world did they get my information so quickly and then choose to contact me? I've never had anything like this happen in the past, let alone one week after I sign up for new service. I'm starting to wonder how safe I am being a xfinity customer.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

The employee, yet again, posted a CSA link which is only accessible to employees, not to customers. Try https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse instead.

If you get a "Bad Request" message on my link, try opening it in a different browser or in a Private/InPrivate/Incognito window.

I went to the report abuse link that Bruce provided and called the number for security.  They took my call but weren’t able to do anything. Nothing ever happened beyond that.

We appreciate you for reaching out to our Customer Security Assurance team @user_mpk5nz. Our Customer Security Assurance team can help with various security issues impacting your account, however, their options would be limited when it comes to preventing future scam calls from occurring. While the scam call took place within a few weeks of starting services with us, it does not mean your information was obtained within that timeframe. When it comes to keeping your information secured, we always recommend following that tips in this article.
