One address. Need 2 accounts. Only one coax cable.

I have internet only at my house.  I intend to get a room mate who will have her own internet and TV.

I was told I couldn't do it unless I had a separate address.  I went to the city, and got a "utility" address (the regular address plus the fraction "1/4")  I went to a LOT of trouble to do this because I was told by the XF rep that they could install the second line at that address.    Then, after I got this address, when I called in, one XF rep found the address and told me it would cost me $10,000 to drop a line.  Then he told me I could just have 2 accounts at one address, as long as only one had TV.  I'm fine with that, I don't need TV.  The room mate does.  Today I called in and get the following answers from 6 different reps: (1) We can't find your address, it doesn't exist,  (2) We can't service the address as ¼ we can only install at an address as ½ (3) We won't install a second account to an address that is listed as a single family unit  (4)  We can't install a second account if you only have one outlet, you have to hire an electrician to add an outlet  (5) Call "Hello Tech" at [Edited: "Personal Information"]  they are the only one that can put in a second line     I am beyond frustrated.  Please help.  BTW,   I am perfectly capable on installing a splitter on my cable, I don’t need to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to hire someone to do that. I just need to know WHAT is required and what splitter to buy.  Currently the house has ONE line that runs into the home, and goes to my modem in the basement.   I can cut drywall,  I can wallfish.  I have skills.  What I don't have is the ability to get hold of someone at XF that can give me an answer, or tell me how to get a second account set up at this address.   I spent 3 hours on the phone today with XF, and got nowhere.

Hello @SJH2 I can understand your need to have an additional outlet in the home. I am sorry to say that there can only be one active account per address.

@XfinityRobertA   That is NOT what a rep told me.  There are even notes on my account regarding this.

@SJH2 If the location where you are at is identified by the USPS as having separate addresses, then there can be one account for each of those addresses. I used to live in an apartment that used to be a house. The house was bought and was converted to 3 units. A, B, and C. Each unit had their own utilities. Is this the case in this situation?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Yes: the location is identified by the USPS as having separate addresses.  And No, there are not separate utilities.  I was told by a rep, and he promised me at the time that he would notate my account that he had told me this,  that there could be 2 accounts at one address, not even utilizing the now separate "utility" address of the "1/4" that I went to so much trouble to get, because XF told me to do so. On 11/21/22, the rep   told me this was a recent decision by XF, since so many children are moving back in with their parents because they can't afford their own place, and it was a rather recent decision by XF to allow this, the ability to allow two separate accounts under one roof.  Only one account, as it was explained to me, was able to have TV.  The other could have just internet.  I should have set it up on the spot, when he told me this, but he said, "why do that, you'll be paying for 2 accounts, just wait until your room mate moves in and then do it."  Now,  we are completely screwed, as apparently no one I've spoken to today will agree that this is a thing.  What are we to do?  I have a contract, She has a contract.  We both need internet, she needs her bundle....whoever has to cancel her service, because of the move, will pay a penalty because she can't transfer service.  This is so unfair, when we were both told by XF reps that it would be no problem.

@SJH2 I do get how this can be frustrating. There are some cases where an account can have 2 modems active on one account. There can only be one account per address. If your roommate is wanting to get their own service, they will have to go with a different carrier, unfortunately.
