no dial tone

After upgrading to Xfi Gateway I have no dial tone. I read in the forums to contact with the pen and pencil icon but do not even see that to click on.

Do you happen to know which Xfinity Gateway that you have? We have the XB3, XB6, XB7 and XB8 models now. 

Have you had a chance to try the troubleshooting steps on our site at https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/troubleshooting-no-dial-tone and see if those helped?
