Need Xfinity to unlock my new Pixel 7a phone so I can use it on my Google Fi account (I'm not an Xfinity Mobile customer).

I do not have Xfinity Wireless/Voice/Phone service. I have Google Fi instead, and I just received an upgrade to a Pixel 7a. Unfortunately it's locked for Xfinity (I have no idea why...mistake at the warehouse?) and I can't activate it until Xfinity unlocks it. Is that even possible?

I've tried putting my Google Fi SIM card into the new Pixel 7a, but the home screen says the SIM card is not compatible and that I need to contact Xfinity about unlocking the device. I've tried the Xfinity Assistant but can't get it to put me through to an agent who can unlock it. Also, having the phone download an eSIM doesn't work. Won't even start downloading.

I purchased the phone directly from Google Fi, as they informed me I had reached my two-year upgrade point. I ordered it through them, and they sent me an Xfinity-locked phone for some reason. Have spent a couple hours with them trying to activate it, and it's clearly locked. If I can't get Xfinity to unlock it, I have to convince them to send me a correctly unlocked phone.

@User_S.K.​ SAME EXACT problem, what was your solution?  Google Fi support said they'd have to ship a new phone.  How the heck did I get an Xfinity locked phone from Google directly in the first place!  I left Comcast years ago for really good reasons, and I'll never be a customer of them ever again.
