Need to make sure old modem is released from account before reselling

I have two old modems from two accounts within our family that I'm trying to resell. I understand I need to direct message "Xfinity Support", but I can't direct message until I make a post apparently.

My question is: Can I direct message about a different account that is no longer active (about 3 years) as well as this account's old modem? Trying to resell both, but I don't have an Xfinity login for the older account.

Hello, @user_l7ptzg thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. While we can certainly appreciate your desire to receive immediate assistance with your issue, please be mindful that sending unsolicited Direct Messages to an Official Employee of the Xfinity Community Forum is a violation of Forum Guidelines. In the future we ask that you please find the most appropriate public board for your question type and post it there. If needed, we may invite you to send us a Direct Message.

With being new to the Xfinity Forum I understand if you're not familiar with the process. We just want to ensure your profile isn't negatively affected as repeated issues can lead to loss of Forum access, which our team doesn't want that to happen. That is a great question regarding messaging regarding a previous account. As long as I have the option to authenticate the account with you, I'd be able to discuss account specifics and if needed I would be able to remove any associated owned modems if still attached.

Please let me know if you still need assistance, I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you for the response. You are right, I am unfamiliar with the proper protocol for these forums, I am consulting the guidelines linked. I found multiple closed forum posts here in Customer Service about similar modem questions and thought direct messaging to Xfinity Support was the proper move.

I would like to check that the modem on my account has been disassociated and unregistered.

The second account with another modem I would like to try and authenticate the account and check that it is disassociated as well afterwards.

@user_l7ptzg you're welcome, and I appreciate the confirmation you're still needing assistance with the equipment. Thanks for your understanding regarding the direct messaging, since you have already sent that I should be able to locate it and follow up with you there instead of you having to resend a direct message. I'll check in with you there to continue.
