Local weather on the weather channel

The local weather alerts and weather on the 8’s stopped appearing when viewing the weather channel. Changed within the last two days. X1 box reset noo change. This was one of the reasons to maintain cable. Guess it is time to search for another provider as the cost has went up and the comcast system is so unstable.

Hello @user_dc7w0 thank you so much for taking the time to reach out here via our Xfinity Forums! Changes in programming are subject to the channel broadcaster, but there are alternatives like the Weather App on X1, where you can add your location for accurate and up-to-date weather information.

For cost-saving options, we will always recommend our Xfinity Plan Builder, which will show the most current plan options for your account when signed in with your Xfinity ID and password.

@XfinityAlfonso so you are telling me the as of Sunday, the weather channel broadcaster stop doing local broadcasts? Funny that it is available on my neighbors provider. Will definitely be  reviewing whether to stay with Comcast as you recommend.

The Weather Channel does provide coverage for your local area, but again the content that is broadcast is up them and how it is presented. The Weather Channel in my area broadcasts based on our local international airport but not for my specific zip code, so your mileage may vary. If you feel there may be a TV service issue, you can always self-troublehsoot by performing a X1 System Refresh on your main cable box. We are always here to assist and answer any questions, and are available for additional troubleshooting or account reviews as needed.

Yep it was fine until two days ago for our zip and city. This is not the weather channel or equipment issue. It is a decision by Comcast.

Oh and I glad you are here to help. When you offer no solutions. Have you ever tried to get help on resolving a problem and responses never have any actionable info?

If there is an issue with the content being presented from The Weather Channel, those details would be provided to Comcast from the Network. We do not control what is provided by the network. Are you having an issue getting the channel at all? Are you getting an error message?

lol. If it couldn’t get to the channel I would not know if it was displaying the local weather. Up to 2 days ago the information was based the area Comcast serviced. In my case the Fredericksburg Virginia area. The only way this could happen is if Comcast provided the location of the service. Whether on purpose or misconfiguration this is a Comcast configuration problem. Really sad that the company states it is a problem with the channel without even checking the network setting between the channel and Comcast.
