Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hi there! We can definitely help with that.

If your phone is already connected to the modem but there’s no dial tone yet, it usually means either the line hasn’t fully activated or the modem hasn’t synced the voice service.

Let’s try a few quick things first:

Start by making sure the phone is plugged into the TEL 1 port on the back of the modem (not TEL 2).

Next, check the modem lights. You should see a “Tel,” “Voice,” or phone icon light. It should be solid. If it’s off or blinking, that usually means the voice line isn’t active yet.

Then, reboot the modem by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Give it a few minutes to fully come back online, then check for dial tone again.

If you have another phone available, try plugging that in as well, just to rule out the handset.

If after that there’s still no dial tone, let us know what the voice light on the modem is doing (on, off, blinking), and we can go from there 👍
