landline phone line in use keeps blinking on telephone base....no 2nd phone attached...

Hi there, @mr2248! Thanks for reaching out to us here on the community forum! I would recommend that you take a look at the phone wire itself and make sure it is connected securely to the modem, or to the wall socket if you are going through your existing home wiring. Also, what happens when you pick up the phone? Is there a dial tone?

Thanks for those additional details, @mr2248 ! When you say the technician made the line more direct, is that through a phone jack on the wall or did we go directly to the phone jack in the back of the modem to your phone? Power and cable line replacement should not have direct effect on your dial tone in the way you are describing. You would have whole home power/cable issues if that were the case. Not something localized to just the phone. Not sure about the Washington DC number or Big Brother, but I appreciate you including that information!

phone electrical plug going to an extension cord, phone line pluged directly into back of modem, to telephone 1 line.
