user_a1srii Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. Experiencing internet drops like clockwork at 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM? You're not alone, and it's definitely a head-scratcher! Here are a few common culprits and some steps you can try to troubleshoot:

Possible Reasons for Consistent Nightly Disconnects:

  • Scheduled Maintenance: Our local team may perform routine network tweaks during these off-peak hours. Sometimes, this can lead to brief outages.
  • Automatic Equipment Updates: Your modem or router might be set to download and install firmware updates in the early morning, causing a temporary blip in service.
  • Device Overheating: If your modem or router has been running all day, it could be getting a little too warm and causing instability. A nightly reset might temporarily mask this.
  • Local Network Activity: Less likely at these hours, but a device on your network could be initiating a heavy process (like a cloud backup) that briefly overwhelms your connection.

Troubleshooting Steps to Try:

  1. Simple Restart: Unplug your modem and router for about a minute, then plug the modem back in first, waiting for it to fully power on before plugging in the router.
  2. Check Device Lights: When the internet goes down, take a look at the lights on your modem and router. Note which ones are blinking or off – this can give you a clue about the problem (e.g., no internet signal, local network issue)
  3. Direct Modem Connection: If you have a computer with an Ethernet port, try connecting it directly to your modem (bypassing your router) around the time the drops usually happen. If the issue persists, the problem might be with the modem or the service itself.
  4. Router Logs: If you're comfortable accessing your router's settings, look for system logs. These might contain details about why the connection is dropping.

It's definitely not typical for internet to cut out at the same times every night, so it's worth digging into! Hopefully, these suggestions will help you find a solution. Let us know if you discover anything!

I have tried all the solutions in my power. Please stop doing maintenance at 1:06 am… move it to 4:00am

Hi there, @user_a1srii Thank you so much for reaching out. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, and we do appreciate your feedback. The time and day that the maintenance is performed is something that we can not change.-Richard
