Internet Cable Installation

Hello, currently living in an apartment and using xfinity internet. Just purchased a home and need to get cables installed in order to use the XFi modem. I would like the cables installed BEFORE I officially transfer the service to the new address. That way it is all set up and ready to go for when I actually move in a couple of weeks.

How do I go about setting up that appointment?

Hello @turnerw9

Thank you for taking the time to bring this question to our Xfinity Community Forum and congrats on your new home! You ask a great question. We can set up the appointment for installation during the transfer or service process, but not before. Do you know if your new home has ever been serviced by Xfinity?

@XfinityElizabethA I'm not sure on that. I'm fairly certain the last hookup was to a dish on the roof, and that at least one nearby neighbor has xfinity hooked up. If it's done during the transfer process would that be a same day job then? Or if I initiate the transfer process would a cable be installed before the actual 'transfer' date?

Okay, that is good to know! There is a possibility that we have also serviced that home in the past if your neighbors are currently enjoying Xfinity services as well. No matter what, our systems are pretty advanced, and will be able to verify this information in the process of creating your account. When setting up your appointment, you will be provided with upcoming available dates and times to choose from based on technician availability. Services will begin after installation, but you will already have your account information and credentials from the initial account creation process. Was there a particular reason that you needed the cables to be installed prior to us actually providing you services?

@XfinityJoshM The main reason is working from home, so I can't be without internet during a weekday. So I was hoping to get the cables installed early in case it takes a while, or there is an appointment delay/reschedule. When making an appointment, I need to go through the 'Moving to new address' option on the Xfinity website and a technician should come on the day and time I pick, correct?

@turnerw9 That is absolutely correct, it will be the date and time you select! As a remote worker myself, I get exactly where you are coming from. I heavily rely on my internet service as well to complete my job duties, so I can see why you want to make sure your service is up and running by the end of our visit. Rest assured our technicians are the best at what they do. We rarely need to reschedule our appointments to install services unless there is a special situation. Have you completed the online account setup process already?

@XfinityJoshM The online account process? I have an xfinity account already if that's what you mean. But I haven't completed the 'moving to new address' process.

... I can't be without internet during a weekday ...

If it's that critical, do yourself a favor and arrange for backup Internet service from your (non-Comcast) mobile provider. You'll live longer that way.

I moved to the new apartment and internet cable is not installed in this new apartment to connect the modem to start the internet services. Technician visited once and told the third party contractor will install the cable in the apartment. Then no one contacted me i tried many times with the xfinity customer support but not sure what they are doing. They scheduled one more visit of technician to my new apartment,  not sure will he install the cable or just visit?
