International free calling works, but texting does not

Xfinity recently told customers that calls and texts from international locations are now free. You do not need to activate the Global Pass to use calling and texting .  However, only calling works.  Called customer service to ask and was told to turn on roaming data.  Well if you do that, you are immediately charged for the $10/ day Global Pass, since a phone is always using data, even when you aren’t using it.  So users don’t really have free international texting.  Customer service not really helpful and only offered to deactivate my Global Pass. I didn’t want that, as I have it for the times I do need international data.  What I really want is for my phone to work seamlessly wherever I am without extra per day fees.

user_c0hhex, thank you for reaching out to Xfinity Support. To get international free calling and texting with Xfinity Mobile, enable WiFi calling while connected to the Xfinity Mobile network in the U.S. This allows you to call and send texts to U.S. numbers for free when traveling abroad. Ensure your device supports WiFi calling and has the latest software and carrier settings. For international texting, all Xfinity Mobile lines can send texts, but charges may apply based on the destination. Always check eligibility and policies for international roaming and calling.

Thank you.  The issue is not when I am on WiFi, which works fine, it is when I am not on WiFi.  In this case, calling works  and texting does not.  This is not what was promised .

user_c0hhex Which country are you trying to send a text message to? Please note that some countries are blocked on our end, and messages may not go through if the destination is on our blocklist.
