I was offered "promotions" from "xfinity" who were prying for Name DOB SSN

I was called and offered by xfinity to reduce my monthly fee, but was very casually asked for personal information. They said they needed to verify my name, birth date, and social security number.

When I asked for verification that they were from xfinity, they gave me a Name and some ID number. I have no idea where i can use this to verify if, 1: This is an actual person working for xfinity, or 2: They person on the phone is that real person and not just a scammer with a list or names and ids.

When asked for a small fee to process the "discount" i was getting, I asked for some verification email or something, they were silent for a while and eventually the call disconnected.

I was called a few hours later, with the same offer, but I refused to just give my name to them. "It should be on my account" and they said "We're promotions department and don't hold that info." I let them know I didn't like giving out my info over the phone and they seemed like a scam.

I still don't know if Max and Elsa really work for xfinity or not, but if they do, this is an awful promotion to ask your customers to freely give out sensitive data to strangers over the phone.

user_tj6uax I am glad you did not provide any details as we don't just call our customers out of the blue and ask for those details or offer promotions. Thank you for letting us know and glad you were not a victim to this type of scam. That said if you do want to go over offers your account may qualify for our team is happy to help you.
