I received this email, supposedly from Xfinity that included a link to download an App.  Is this for real or is this a phishing scam email?

"The xFi website is going away

As of June 7, 2022, the Xfinity xFi website found at internet.xfinity.com will no longer be available. But don’t worry – your service is not changing. All the features of Xfinity xFi are available right from the palm of your hand with the Xfinity app.

The Xfinity app is the easiest way to manage your Xfinity experience. Not only does it provide the ultimate control of your home WiFi network with the ability to assign user profiles, view and control connected devices, test your speeds, and enable Advanced Security, it also allows you to manage your Xfinity account and get help whenever you need it – 24/7.

Once the website is retired on June 7, 2022, you will be unable to adjust any of your WiFi settings, pause WiFi, or use other existing parent control settings unless you download the free Xfinity app. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to download it today!"

Good morning! Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here through our Xfinity Forums. You really cannot be too careful these days with all the attempts at Phishing or scam emails. I have even received the occasional text message asking me to click a link or log into something. I can certainly appreciate why you are reaching out to check on this.

Notifications have gone out to customers regarding changes to the Xfinity X-Fi website and how this is now all bundled conveniently into your Xfinity X-Fi app. You will have all the same features and abilities as you do with our X-Fi website to make managing your in-home network settings and security easy and simple. You can download the app directly from Android Play Store or iTunes for Apple users. Please let us know if you have any questions at all. Here is a link that goes over some great options with the Xfinity X-Fi app https://comca.st/3vTtbd8.

OK - so that email was not sent to my Comcast/Xfinity email address but to an alternate email address we have. I'm not sure we use the Xfinity X-Fi website. We use the https://my.xfinity.com online site to view our comcast email and our account information/settings.  Is this the same thing?

That is an excellent question. The Xfi site is different from our regular site where you are going for your email and account info. The difference is that the Xfi site is more geared towards your Internet service and devices that connect to your network and access the internet. You can find out more at https://comca.st/3vTtbd8.

I no longer work for Comcast.
