How to Activate X1 Without Using Xfinity App?

Hi,

Is there really an alternative way to set up my new X1 cable modem without having to use the Xfinity app? I currently use a desktop computer for internet access.

@user_5c3c73, thank you for taking the time to use the Xfinity Community Forum page. I would be happy to assist you with options to get your equipment activated. The easiest way is definitely using the app for a self-service activation, but we should be able to push things through on our end as well. Have you already hooked up your equipment to an outlet for power and connected the coax cable to both the equipment and wall?

@XfinityMarcus​ No, not yet. At this point, I am worried that if I hook it up wrong, I may lose access to the old modem, too.

I can understand that, we would need you to plug it in for us to get it activated. Let's also get your account pulled up on our end. Please send us a direct message with your full name and complete service address to get started.

Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:
• Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon (upper right corner of this page)
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send your message.

I was able to get the new modem up and running with my old modem's credentials... thank you!
