Firewall Call

I just received a call,  the caller ID came up as Xfinity Store By Comcast. He asked if my Modem was flashing or solid,  when I said solid he said something is blocking my Firewall. He asked if I knew how to login to my Modem I said no, he asked if now was a good time for him to walk me through it, I said no,  he rushed and said call back when ready and hung up.  Indian accent, call center background.

I have received a couple of calls like this today. It was the Xfinity phone number on the ID.  He kept saving my Firewall settings are too low, and was I aware that I have 27 Unauthorized  users connected to my service. He kept asking about how many devices? He kept mentioning modem lights. He wanted me to open a browser and he was going to tell me how to clear it, he said I could see the users online. SO I signed into my account, and he got upset and said What are you doing? I said it's very strange, I have had Xfinity since 1994 and all in all that time NO one has ever called to tell me something was wrong! He got mad at me and Hung up! Something just didn't seem right, definitely and Indian accent!

@user_8d2eec Thank you for posting on our community forum about the suspicious call you received. Caller ID spoofing is when someone deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID to disguise their identity as something else. Scammers often use deceptive local numbers or spoof a number from a company you may already know and trust.

If you ever answer and something doesn't feel quite right, we recommend hanging up before providing any personal information. Please reach out to us directly if you have any questions or concerns about a suspiscious call. You can find more tips to stay safe from common phone scams here.
