EPON provision

I’ve spoken to multiple reps and spent 3-4 hours on the phone where I was hung up with once after 1+ hr and another who connected me with someone else without telling me after 45 minutes only to be then escalated and told a tech needs to come out. I saw another member have similar issues. All I want to do is use my asus BT10 with the ONU, not bridge the XER10 I have as this is not possible. I was told a tech needs to come out and put my modem into bridge mode? Someone please help me!

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community Forum and sorry to hear about the trouble obtaining assistance. The XER10 does not currently support bridge mode. A tech visit would not change that. We could get an XB7 in place instead of the XER10, and that device would allow you to take advantage of bridge mode. Let us know if you would like to get that going, and we would be happy to help get it done.

An Xfinity worker told me last night the modem needs to be put into bridge mode and that I’m mistaken about the different between a router and modem. I read somewhere else on this forum someone had a similar issue and there is a way to provision the ONU box to accept a third party/customer owned router without a tech.

You can certainly use customer owned gateways if you wish. You can find a list of approved devices here : https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned

This is exactly what I want. Unfortunately nobody I’ve spoken to at Xfinity can help me do this or understands this is possible.
