I need to direct message to get an old modem deactivated. There is no symbol. What do I do?

Im not sending a specific person a direct message. There is no icon to start a direct message unless you make a post first, which defeats the purpose of it since I have to provide personal details to get the modem deactivated. I just did what is on the support page.
