deleting old service address

I moved 2 years ago and was given a new account number.   My old address and account number still show up under "My Account"   I tried to delete but when following the instructions and clicking on "account and identity" I get logged out.  I tried several times.   Reason I want to delete is that I cannot add my phone number for account recovery since it is associated with the old account.   Not sure if deleting the old account  will allow me to add the phone number or if there is another solution?

Hi there, @BLC1182! Thanks for reaching out to us on the Community Forum! Deleting it will likely not allow you to use the phone number. What you want to do is log in to the account that has the phone number attached and remove it. Once it's no longer attached, you can add it somewhere else. You can find directions here to find the ID if you don't remember it and change the password if needed to get in.  https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/how-to-change-your-username Let us know how it goes!

I got to the step to unlink but then it said I would lose access to account.   When I moved to new address, they made me get a new email/id.   They said I could not keep the old one  with the new account number.   I subsequently was able to link the new id and old id (for example xyz1@comcast.net and xyz2@comcast.net) making the original id my email address.   My kids also had email addresses on that old account that they still use.   Will unlinking the old account number mess up anything with these email addresses?   Will unlinking that account actually allow me to put my phone number for security?

Great question now that you've linked your new ID with your old ID unlinking the old account number won't mess anything up it should let you add your current phone number for the authentic authentication and security options
