darned xfinity bots

Well yet again the internet went down.

I called on a LAND LINE, ( as I would never give Xfinity my cell number, that would be a disaster), and the dratted bots do not recognize that I DO NOT have a cell number registered with Xfinity. It keeps asking to send me a link to my land line or text to my land line and to surf to an Xfinity site with my land line, but the bot eventually says "Good Bye".

I did get to talk with someone finally, hard to understand them foreigners that have English as a second language. She even wanted me to connect my TV to the secondary WIFI, even though my Roku Box is a wired connection and not WIFI. After over an hour they said they would send someone out.

Also they must have got a three years running upgrade to my Netgear CM2050 modem as that could only be the cause of the phone working but the internet down. That would explain why finally I connected and my upload dropped from about 78 Mbps to a shade over 20 Mbps. At the peak my upload was about 87 Mbps and download peaked at 599 Mbps

It could be that a Xfinity truck was parked across the street from my house when the sign in my front yard says that I signed up for Fiber Optic internet.

Nawh, why would they do that?

I did the factory reset on my modem with a paperclip. Couldn't hurt as I was not getting anything. It somewhat worked.

Anyhow with a Xfinity bill of $142.85 that I just paid, and always pay on time, I get no breaks, Not even because I'm a veteran or that I just turned 73.

But here's something, the new Fiber Optic company in my city will give me 1Gig down and 1Gig up and a phone line with anywhere in the U.S. calling for $58.87 with a three year price lock. After that it would be $83.87. I couldn't get anyone on Xfinity customer retention, after listening to music for 24 minutes, to get a price match.

So I signed up, that's why the sign in my front yard about the Fiber Optic system.

Sorry xfinity, you have too many quirks that are dissatisfying to customers, like hard to understand foreigners answering your calls that read, (not too well),  from a script, bots that prevent one from getting human help.

Come the new year, after about 20 years, It'll be "sayonara" xfinity.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@Gerry_D Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m truly sorry for the frustration you’ve gone through—this is not the kind of service we want for any of our customers, especially someone who’s been with us for 20 years.

The issues you’ve described, from the bot not recognizing your landline to the challenges with support and service, are unacceptable. I completely understand how this has led to your decision to switch providers, and I’m deeply sorry we let you down and didn’t make you feel valued.

While your decision may already be final, our team is here to help with any account or service concerns you still have. If you’d like to connect, please send us a direct message with your full name and address. To do that, sign in and click the "Direct Messaging" icon in the top right corner next to the bell, then send your message to "Xfinity Support." We’re here to help in any way we can! Talk to you soon!

Re-read what I posted. It's not going to change, if anything it will get worse.

I'll have a further comment at the end of this re-post so you can re read it.

Fiber came to the outside of my residence today. I'll keep xfinity, (note lower case as that's all you get), for a short time until I can get my landline transferred.

Speaking of landlines, how come you charge about $40 / month for a land line when if one installs a VOIP from one of the many providers, which they GIVE YOU THE EQUIPMENT and charge on the average about $18 / month?

I dare you to answer that. They have just as many benefits as you offer, so try hard to answer that.

Thank you for your service your BOT says, after being a veteran from May 1970 to August 1972 active duty, and as active reservist for another 10 years.

Home Depot gives me a %15 discount for my service. You gave me a one time discount of less than $20.

This all started with an exclusive deal you crafted with the city of Scranton years ago to be the sole provider, well that ran out, so see how many are jumping the fence to greener pastures. As I say greener, it means more green in my wallet.

Next week at this time I'll have 1- Gig download and 1-Gig upload at about half the price you are bilking me for.

Price match with speed and we can talk. If you are indeed an xfinity person, you have access to my email and phone number.

Thank you for the additional information, @Gerry_D! Also, thank you for your service over the years. We do appreciate you! Comcast does offer exclusive benefits for our customers that serve, or who have served. If you haven't visited our Military service benefits page, I recommend you do! Your Service Matters
Our team would be more than happy to review your account, and see what promotional options we have in your area for Internet and Home Phone service. The general cost for our Xfinity Voice service is $40.00 per month. However, we may have promotional pricing that can bring that down. We can also check to see if your area has been upgraded to our enhanced speeds, which will give you faster upload speeds, and the possibility of our X-Class Internet service that offers symmetrical speeds. Feel free to send our team a direct message at any time.
