Credits for outages in/around Portland

Are people who have experienced/are experiencing extended outages after the storm in Oregon eligible for credits for those outages or not? https://oregon.comcast.com/2024/01/24/approximately-95-of-comcast-network-restored-following-last-weeks-power-outages/ This article from Comcast states "We know service interruptions can be disruptive, and we will offer proactive credits to customers who have experienced a prolonged service interruption following power restoration." However, it seems some customers have been denied those credits because the outages were "weather related" which is excluded by their contracts. So what is the actual policy here?

We understand wanting to know the actual policies @user_n36v5j. Our Residential Service Agreement can be viewed here https://www.xfinity.com/corporate/customers/policies/subscriberagreement. If you navigate to section 11 subsection f. you will see it states that 'We will not be liable for any inconvenience, loss, liability, or damage resulting from any interruption of the Services, directly or indirectly caused by, or proximately resulting from, any circumstances beyond our immediate control, including (but not limited to) the following: (i) causes attributable to you, your Customer Equipment, your Premises, your property, or third parties, including our inability to access your Premises or any third-party negligence or willful misconduct; (ii) failure of any signal or satellite, loss of use of poles or other utility facilities, or any failure or reduction of power; (iii) labor disputes, riot or insurrection, war, explosion, malicious mischief, fire, flood, lightning, earthquake, weather conditions, or other acts of God; or (iv) any court order, law, act, or order of government restricting or prohibiting the operation or delivery of the Services.'

I hope this information helps.

Thank you for providing the policy. Why does the update post on Comcast Oregon then say that credits will be provided to those who have experienced prolonged outages? Support workers on this forum have also said repeatedly over the past few days that people can apply for credits, which seems questionable at best if the official policy is that credits will not be issued.

@user_n36v5j You are asking a great question, and bring up a great point! Typically, we do not provide any credits for those situations mentioned above per the customer agreement previously shared. But, if your account is eligible you can request a credit online for the time offline. There are also certain times we may decide to make an exceptions based on what results in the best experience for you and our other amazing customers impacted. With that, we recently receive confirmation that we will be providing proactive credits for eligible customers that were impacted by this, which is confirmed in the Comcast Oregon article you shared. An exact timeline on when these credits are expected is not currently available, but typically this is something done automatically on your behalf. Let me know if this helps clear things up for you!
