CM 2050v Modem issues
I have seen lots of postings about this modem lacking a firmware upgrade that would the modem provide X1 speeds. Last I saw Netgear said Xfinity was delaying the firmware upgrade due to internal technical issues.
I wanted to share my experience. I recently purchased and connected a CM 2050V modem and was getting very acceptable download and UPLOAD speeds comparable to my Xfinity gateway. As all was working great I took my Xfinity gateway to the local Xfinity store to return it as it was no longer needed. As soon as I got home i noted that upload speeds would no longer excel and seemed to be capped at 40 mps.
Although Xfinity they do not throttle speeds to those using their own equipment it does seem like something was changed in my account when I returned to gateway. The representative did take some time to update the account to process the return. What could have changed?
