Chat agents asking for social security and credit card
I posted this already but Comcast deleted. To the powers that be. I am reporting this to local authorities and news that Comcast chat agents asked me for social security and DOB and then all of my credit card details rather than sending me a link to do it myself securely. This 3rd party company they use for chat is putting us at risk for identity theft. I spoke with Comcast customer security assurance and put in a report. They said this should not be happening. I went to chat and tested it. Another chat agent asked for my information also. Do not delete this. I can’t imagine people getting their cards charged and money taken from them as we are already struggling in this economy!!!

I had the same experience recently. My initial one year promotions expired for Xfinity internet after which I called support to get a better deal. They upsold me a phone line on the call with their support rep to avail the original price for my internet plan and then proceeded with their new way of collecting customer data. I know that new phone lines require the SSN and credit card (for autopay) to be submitted during the initial set up but this individual asked me to do this all on the dial pad of the phone instead of a trusted site that is TLS protected and can be verified being owned by Xfinity. I kept asking for other ways to do this but they wanted all details submitted through this method and kept insisting that this is setup with a 3rd party software that does not give them any access to customer data. I cannot trust this completely opaque method of collection, especially not after I am used to just using their xfinity web application to do this. I would recommend others to not submit data using this method either.

Happened to me, asked the ssn in the chat, and the i got some protected link, same for the CC, and at the and the last 4 digits of the SSN.
Something shady is going on here!
