Cannot get comcast email on iphone but receiving emails on webmail

Need guidance in getting email on my iphone. I have set up according to the instructions but it appears that Comcast does not recoginize my user name or password despite being able to log in on my desktop with the same credentials. I switched cell phone providers and internet service a week ago and had no issues but now I cannot add the comcast email to the new phone. I believe my account is being locked on Comcast's end.

@bg518

Thanks for reaching out to us, we apologize for any inconvenience you're having with accessing your e-mail through your iPhone. What we recommend is you log into your Comcast e-mail through the website to verify your e-mail address and do a password reset.

Then go back into your iPhone settings and add in your e-mail and password and everything should sync up.

How exactly are you attempting to access your comcast.net email on your iPhone, @bg518

It was working yesterday, but I started getting an imap password request. I deleted the email account from my iphone, changed password, powered off my iphone, and tried to reinstall. Now it's saying unername/password is incorrect. I'm using the same credentials that are working for web access.

It sounds like your settings just may need to be reconfigured for IMAP on the native iPhone mail app, @bg518. In the same section that you were able to delete your account, you should also see an "account settings" option. Once you have located that section, there will be another section titled "advanced". In the advanced setting section you should see either IMAP or POP, which are you seeing appear?

 The difference between Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) and Post Office Protocol (POP) — Xfinity Email help article may be useful in this scenario as you may want to determine which protocol better fits your needs.
