Canceling Service but need phone number forwarded

Hello,

We will be moving my mother into an assisted living facility and will need to cancel her service.  The question I have is in regards to forwarding her XFINITY voice phone number.  I know that I can forward her voice service now while she is a customer but will the forwarding stay in effect after her account is terminated?

@user_fff6e1 Good luck with your mom's move! The best way to make sure she keeps that number or to keep the forwarding live is to contact the facility's voice services. If that is not an option, then the forwarding will stop shortly after the account is disconnected.

Once you terminate service there’s no access to phone service, you would have to port it out to a different service. If not, the number will be lost and given back to Comcast to give to someone else in the future. Maybe find out if the facility has Comcast services available in her room and possibly transfer service. With porting phone service there’s no guarantees but check your options before termination

Good morning, @user_0afd99, and thank you for reaching out through our Community Forums page with your concerns regarding porting your phone number. Porting a number can take some time based on the process, including to a different Xfinity account. It sounds like we're working on it, but I would be more than happy to take a look into this further with you.

To do so, please send us a Private Chat Message to ensure the integrity of your account. To send us a Private Chat Message, select the message icon in the top right corner and then search for Xfinity support. With our new Xfinity support chat, you do not need to input the name of a person. Just select “Xfinity Support” and you will be able to speak with the next available specialist.
