Can I Use My Own Equipment for a Price Discount When I Upgrade My Package?

I currently have a very old internet package and want to upgrade to the 500Mbps 5 year price fix, instead of canceling and going with fiber.  

The package states that it includes the modem/router, so If I use my own equipment, will the price be cheaper than what is advertised?

Hello, @user_jb4din thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. You've contacted the right place for support and want to answer your question regarding using your own equipment. There is not an additional discount for customers who use their own modem, with the new next generation promotions customers who provide their own modem will get unlimited data now where that was only included with customers who had xFi complete previously. 

If you haven't checked recently, we do have the great option of checking certified modems compatible with our network and ones that support higher than 35 MBPS upload if those are available in your area: https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned

@XfinityJustinC​, I'm looking over the plans again, and it states unlimited data and equipment included.  Is there a high speed data cap, then reduced speed for the remaining billing cycle?

If not, then there is no need for me to buy a wired gigabit router (for firewall), and just use the Xfinity equipment, but if there is a high speed cap, then I will buy that gigabit router.  The modem I have is supported.

Also, if I upgrade and choose your equipment, will it be shipped to me for self install, or will a representative come out and install it?

Let me know, so I can figure out which way to go and get this order happening.

@user_jb4din there is no cap for the data or reduced speeds for the next gen plans. The plan has unlimited data and the speeds would stay the same regardless of the amount of data used in a month. If you were to upgrade and choose to get one of our gateways, it could either be mailed out, or you can pick it up at a local Xfinity store for a self install.
