Can I remove my phone number from my account entirely?

Hi,

I received a sales call from Xfinity today during something important, and it made me very angry. I do not want Xfinity to have my mobile phone number in their system at all. I do not want to be called or texted by Xfinity for any reason. I want my email address to be the only contact information that Xfinity has on file for me. I do not see anywhere in the web interface where I can remove my phone number, I can only change my phone number to something else. I tried changing my phone number to a "555" fictional number, but they require SMS verification before changing it.

Is there a way to remove my phone number completely?

Thanks

Welcome to our Community Forum, @user_zqjgqk! Although you need to have a working phone number on file for important notifications about your account, you can add your name to the Do Not Call registry to avoid unwanted marketing calls. You can find instructions here.

@XfinityEmilyB Thanks for the response. The national "do not call list" is ineffective. I've added my phone number there years ago, and your company called me anyway.

Why can you not just use my email for important notifications on my account? My mobile phone will have connection through 5G and I will get an email even if there is an xfinity outage affecting my home Internet. I don't understand why paying for cellular service needs to be a prerequisite for home Internet service.

Can you please have Engineering go in and remove my phone number on the backend as an exception for my account, or have them do a quick update to make a phone number optional for everybody?

@user_zqjgqk I understand where you're coming from. We need your contact information on file so we can deliver required notifications as needed. Once your number is added to the Do Not Call registry, you should not be receiving marketing calls. You can also manage your Xfinity notification preferences here.

@XfinityEmilyB You are not listening. You DO have my contact information - my email address. Please use ONLY my email address to contact me. Do not ever call me or text me for any reason, even for important notifications. Remove my phone number from your systems, please.

Unfortunately, that is not an option we have available. You however can manager your notifications preferences here. Our website here, also allows you to opt out of calls, mail, and knocking.
