CableWifi now SpectrumWifi, can no longer connect with laptop

Hello,
I live in central CA and there are Xfinity hotspots that I use all the time with my laptop. I used to travel to San Diego and be able to use the CableWifi hotspots, but I no longer see or have the option to select that. The app shows that the cablewifi hotspot is still there and I have the most up to date app and version. But it appears to have been changed to a SpectrumWifi hotspot now and I cannot connect. I tried logging in with Xfinity credentials and it didn't work because it wants a Spectrum customer e-mail etc.

Using the CableWifi last year I used to have the option of selecting the xfinity provider and entering my credentials when I connected, but now I have nothing. Is there a new app or something that I can download onto my laptop to get things working again?

Hi there @user_1f547a, thank you for reaching out.  I know how important it is to connect to XFINITY hotspots while you’re traveling. You can verify our hotspot locations here https://comca.st/2SfN7Hg  to confirm the availably of WiFi service locations.

Verified, that it should be here but still do not see it as an option to connect to with the laptop. IMG of hotspot in question attached.

I found this https://stopthecap.com/2020/12/03/spectrum-changing-its-on-the-go-wi-fi-service-retiring-cablewifi-hotspot-id/ talking about a switch out of cablewifi. But I still see no solution for having xfinity customers connecting to the hotspots.

Thank you for the screen shot and sharing the above article. I would like to ask, when you're trying to connect from the laptop, are you searching for the network from the available WiFi list? Have you also tried resetting the network settings? Is your laptop operating system also up-to-date with the most current firmware available?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Yes I scroll through the entire wifi list and there is no CableWifi present.
I just reset my network settings, and checked for a firmware update and they are good to go now.
Still no luck.

I tried connecting to the open spectrum wifi, but even that needed a spectrum login and not an xfinity login to be found.

Thank you for the clarification and for checking those settings. CableWiFi is an extension of your Xfinity WiFi service, but on partner networks, potentially giving you access to even more hotspots on the go. This is another type of public, unsecured network, also similar to when you connect to a coffee shop's open WiFi. Connecting to Spectrum with Xfinity credentials might not work as it's not our network or a partner network. If you no longer see the CableWifi, it's possible that the partner business has changed providers, and this could also explain why the CableWifi was replaced by Spectrum.

My recommendation is to always use the Xfinity Hotspot app, or interactive map, and follow the instructions here: What are Xfinity WiFi Hotspots and how do I connect?, to locate and identify the different types of Xfinity Hotspots in your area.

Has there been any recent updates? I’m in Spectrum territory and neither my Comcast phone (Android) nor IPAD connect to their system.
