Cable Line

My account says that I am scheduled for a replacement of my damaged but working Internet line. But the date is listed as unknown.

The utility marking people came yesterday and marked up not only my yard and also flags and markers up and down the middle of my neighbors yard. The markers and flags are unacceptable to him

Can someone in Michigan, United States contact me to let me know if it is a problem when the neighbor removes the flags from his yard. And when the work will be done in my yard.

@user_ed48qw Thanks for adding a post and submitting a question to the community. You did well as it is important to receive and share the proper information. Your neighbor may not agree with the flags, but they are important as they help the digging crews know what to avoid and where it is safe to dig. If the markers are removed, that can cause delays and require someone to go back out and verify where it is safe to dig again. If something is changed without our knowledge, that can cause further delays and damage to local infrastructure. This https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/underground-wiring shows all the steps and what to expect on site. It can usually take up to 14 business days to get all the permits and approvals, but it will be done within that window. Let us know if you have more questions.

We all "should" leave markers alone for work on other people's yards. But since it could be weeks, I really have no control over his yard. Why can't someone contact me to let me know why there are markers and flags in the middle of his yard for work on my yard.

@user_ed48qw Let them know that service companies have the right to work on easement property lines. Removing the flags that service companies have a right to place can delay the work required, basically it will make flags stay up longer if we have to go back and reinstall them. That section is reserved for companies to work and provide service, it is why we can place markers and dig in that section of the neighbor's yard legally.

Not in easement. Flags are in middle of the yard and next to their house

Flags can be placed for a variety of reasons such as planned worked, safety, and more @user_ed48qw. We are unable to say if the flags may be needed or required as they are placed by a third party. If lines do need to be replaced, typically it can take up to 14 business days depending on a variety of factors such as flag placements for all utilities and more. You can learn more by visiting our 'When an underground cable line needs to be installed or replaced' support page.

Someone is able to say whether those flags are necessary. Somebody at our local infinity cable installation. Why am I not allowed to have contact with the local Xfinity cable installation?

And what really stumps me on this is that Metro net is coming our neighborhood soon. They have already sent me pricing. And At&t is now installing high speed cable in our township. Why in the name of customer satisfaction will Xfinity not answer my questions about the pending cable install?

Please accept my most sincere apology for the experience you have encountered. I am glad to see that the drop bury process is moving forward, but as mentioned the utility marking is handled by a third-party company and we would not have any additional information to share regarding the flag placement. As work is going to be performed in the area, its usually best practice to mark anywhere near and around the work site for safety @user_ed48qw
