Bait & Switch
In March we went to Xfinity store in Danbury to purchase Iphone for my husband. We had just opened an Xfinity Account in December. They were advertising a Promotion on an Ipad for 50% off. I believe it was for $199.99 (I had seen the ipad for $249.00 & I have the documents to prove this as I had saved them from March). I mentioned to the representative that it was such a good deal that, even though I did not need an I-pad, I would consider it if there were no strings attached because it was such a good deal. (I had avoided the "Free" deal b/c if felt it was a scam with hidden fees). I was assured that there were no strings attached. However, our representative did suggest that we pay it off on a monthly basis & we agreed. Then she suggested that we sign up for a monthly mobility service for the Ipad because I would get better internet service when I traveled with the Ipad. I told the representative that I did not believe that I needed such a service. However, she persuaded me to "try" the service as she found it very helpful and that I could cancel at anytime. So I agreed to try it. We were not given a copy of anything as we were already on auto pay and we were told that it would just be around $40.00 a month more until the Ipad was paid for, or until such time as I decided that I did not need the mobility service. For $199.00 (it could have been $249.99 not sure as I did not take a photo of the promotion sign) we figured what the heck. Fast Forward we went back to Xfinity this past Nov. 1st so that I could cancel the mobility service as I had not even used the Ipad since I had purchased it. I was told by the representative that I could not cancel the service unless I paid off the Ipad. So I said OK I will pay off the Ipad, as we had been making payments on it for 8 months at around $20.00 so there could not be much more of a balance. That was when I was told because they had given me an old iPad (10th generation) & not the New A16 11th Generation Ipad the sale did not apply to my purchase. & that I still owed $296.88. I was in shock, to find out that I actually owed more than the actual sale price of the old iPad - as the 10th Generation Apple iPad was being sold for $259.99 at most other retailers and on Amazon at that time (again I have the documents to confirm the sale price at that time). I totally believed everything the Xfinity Representative had told me and I had also believed the sign in the store that I was purchasing an i-pad for a great sales price. Now I literally owe more than the i-pad was being sold at during that time at most other retail outlets & I have been paying for it for the last 8 months along with a bogus mobility service that I did not need and have not used and do not Want. I intend to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, & The CT Attorney General's Office, & the FTC. After researching on the internet I have found that there were many people Misled by Xfinity at that time. I have documents showing the sale price of the Apple ipad 10th Generation at that time @ $259.99, have the advertisement by Xfinity that they were selling the NEW 11th Generation A 16 ipad at 50% off, & have confirmation from Xfinity forums & Google AI that many people believe they were scammed, during that time period. Had I not felt that the Xfinity sales person had been so genuine and honest I would have double checked my auto pay, but I had found her to be so sincere that It never crossed my mind to double check her honesty. Truly I still find it hard to believe that Emily had misinformed us to such a grave degree. I believe Xfinity should charge me the Sale Price I was promised and ALLOW me to cancel a mobility service that from the start I had believed I did not need, but was persuaded to "Try" for a few months. If this is not justly resolved I will be forced to file complaints with the aforementioned entities. Honestly, Why would I agree to pay almost doube the going price for the old 10th generation Ipad, & pay an additional $20.00 a month for 24 months for a Service I did not want but agreed to "Try", when the NEW ipad was being sold by Xfinity for $299.99 & the OLD one was being sold at $249-$299 with no monthly mobility fee requirement. In fact the New ipad is currently Still being sold by Amazon @ $299.99. If you would like all of my documentation to substantiate my claims I will be happy to send the documentary evidence to you. The concern is not "Community Center" help related............ Topic moved here to the proper help section, and for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.
