Asking for my SSN?

I got asked my social security number in regards to a deal with Xfinity. The person I was talking to, their name is Azhar. I need this to be checked out ASAP because I am seriously sketched out.

You may be asked for your social security number, and date of birth to a run risk assessment to obtain Xfinity Residential services, or Xfinity Mobile service. It should be explained to you in full why the information is needed, before you are asked for it.

I apologize @user_ec2pnq, but we wouldn't really be able to check anything if no changes or anything were made. All risk assessments for services do perform soft screenings, so there should be no risk of your credit score being altered. You should also receive a notice within a few weeks from the credit bureau reflecting the inquiry.
