Affordable Connectivity Program

Good morning.  I received an e-mail yesterday about a program to assist with internet costs for up to $30/month per household.  Here is the text of the first part of the e-mail...

You could get $30 a month toward Internet service through the Affordable Connectivity Program

Confirm your eligibility today

As a part of our ongoing commitment to keeping families connected to fast, reliable Internet, we're proud to participate in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). This government program offers long-term financial assistance to qualified households of up to $30/month ($75/month for Tribal lands) toward Internet and mobile service.

It's easy to check to see if you are eligible for ACP.

The website that launches when clicking the link to check my eligibility is:

https://www.checklifeline.org/lifeline/?id=nv_flow&ebbp=true&rid=20813168415&mid=20220224_Adhoc_TRN_IncomeConstrainedACPEM4

I just want to know...IS THIS LEGIT???  Or is it some scam to get your personal information/data??

Thanks!!

Hello there, and good morning/afternoon! I hope your day has been off to a great start! Thank you for bringing this to our attention through our Forums, and thank you for your patience while awaiting our response. I understand you are interested in this ACP program, and it is definitely legit! If you'd like me to send you some more information on how you could be eligible for this option, and how you can enroll, I'd be happy to get that information over to a good email address, although we'd like to keep that personal contact information private.

To do so, can you please send us a private message, including your full name, and your full address? You can do so, by clicking on the chat icon, in the top right hand corner of your screen, and once you click on that icon, you should be able to search "Xfinity Support", which should then give you the ability to send us a message. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to speaking with you!

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to actual Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@XfinityTyler

I have been trying to get my Mother on this program for 3 months now.  I have been on the phone multiple times with Internet Essentials employees, and I have been to the Williston store on several occasions.  After 3 months, I am still unable to get this discount on my mother's account with no explanation as to why the discount is not coming through.  The last time, I even received a confirmation number and yet, the bill just received has no discount.  I am getting ready to file a complaint with the Vermont Attorney General Consumer Advocate Program and will be contacting the Vermont Department of Public Service Consumer Hotline.

Extremely Disappointed Customer!

Hello @CMD36 and thank you for your feedback. We are happy to investigate your Mothers account with you. I help my mom all the time so I would be reaching out if I was in your shoes too. Here is a link that I want to provide to make sure you have completed all three of the steps needed.

If you have completed all three of the steps outlined in the link above and spoke to our experts in Internet Essentials please feel free to send us your information in a message. Here is how you can send us a your information securely.

(Full credit to @BruceW for this excellent explanation!)

"Search for Xfinity Support" won't work. To send a "Direct Messaging" message to Xfinity Support:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

  •  - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

  •  - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

  • Press Enter to send it

See https://comca.st/3sTQWS5 for an example.

I have completed all the steps for eligibility.  Have tried at least 3 times to get Xfinity application done.  I actually got a confirmation number for a supposed manual addition of the discount and a promise of a discount by the end of the month, and still no discount.  Conversation with direct messaging last night led to more circles and getting zero success.  Now they are telling me to get on my mothers account as a manager.  Did that and it prevented me from accessing my mobile account.  Again, getting no where.  Totally frustrated and considering other options with Consumer Advocate Program complaint with Vermont Attorney General.

I went through all the steps it said great now click here to complete and then it wants an application ID which I never got in the first step and then when I try to look it up it says I'm not eligible. I do believe this is a scam

@Sherah0907 I know that this process can be frustrating at times. I can assure you that the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal government program designed to help income-constrained households connect to the internet, as well as Xfinity Mobile https://comca.st/3GnaQtW get started, you will need to go through the National Verifier by accessing the following link. https://comca.st/3lLMW1q. Once your verified eligible, you will an application ID. Complete the Xfinity ACP enrollment form to enroll and receive your credit. Start your ACP enrollment

@CMD36 I think that Xfinity is trying every way possible to avoid enrolling customers in the ACP.  This is a federal program, not Xfinity's program. I have been  approved twice and I am still experiencing issues with the acceptance.  This nonsense have been going on for 14-months now.  The last representative that i communicated with (via chat) about two-weeks ago basically ignored my issue and concern. I explained that I was approved and had documented communication to attest... He continued to go over my bill -while at the same time trying to sell me other Xfinity products. He  wasted over 45-minutes  (more or less) of my time. As for the ACP -- he sent me  (ithink two of the same links for the program). Why should I apply again if i was already approved? I think a bigggg class action lawsuit is on the horizon....  This game must stop.
