50% dscount offer to existing customer

I got a call from [Edited: "Personal Information"] that I am eligible  for a 50% discount on my Xfinity / Comcast account with no changes to my existing service and left the number [Edited: "Personal Information"] to call back. I called the number and was told the offer is for 24 months no conttract and cancellation penalty but I have to prepaid for 6 months at 50% discount from my current monthly service charge this will continue from months 7 to 24.  I told the person I talked to that I want something in writting. The conversation ended without him asking where I want the information to be send. Is this a legitimbe offer?

I just received this phone call last night as well. I never called back since it seemed to good to be true and checked here as well. I'm a little concerned reading all this now though that there is a breach and they now have my personal information?

Got the same call.  Called back, typical Comcast prompting.  50 percent off if I prepaid 6 months, then bill would drop for two years.  Very low pressure, I said I would need to think about it and they said fine.

I received same call! I wondered why xffinity would need money upfront! They also knew my bill amount and how long I had been with Comcast . I told him I would need to talk to my husband .

Just got one of these calls from DEAN [Edited: "Personal Information"] asking to call at ([Edited: "Personal Information"]).

Hope the xfinity fraud, security, and legal team can take care of it in concert with the proper authorities.  It sounds like you might have had a recent account information breach.

It is not legit; it is a scam.  Turn away and never look back.  And, FWIW, you wouldn't be saving anything anyway, and your personal information will rest securely in the Dark Web to be used by scam artists galore.

They call you and they offer you 50% off your Comcast bill for 24 months if you pay six or eight months in advance. This is a scam this is not promoted by Xfinity. People are terrible

I just received the same call. It was for 50% off my bill for 24 months. They agreed to pay this month's bill. They knew how much my bill was AND I show it was paid. So how did they get into my account if this is a scam. I was searching online while I was on hold and came across this board as it being a scam and hung up. But scary that they clearly have access to my Xfinity account!

I got the same message and so I called them back. Same deal, the guy said I was eligible for a 50% discount if I paid for a full year at the new rate with a pre-pay eBay card. I said that this sounds like a scam.  He then said I will be receiving a $25 credit to my account.

After the call I checked my Xfinity app and I saw a 25$ credit to my account. I also received the following text messages from Xfinity:

Thanks for your payment of $25.00 on 10/13/2022, your new balance is $-25.00 and your confirmation number is [Edited: "Personal Information"]. Txt help or stop Msg&DataRatesMayApply

Thanks for making your $25.00 payment to Xfinity! Your confirmation number is 6525986154.

Update 10/24/22

So the money that the hacker/scammer posted to my account as a 'good faith' gesture got redacted. Which was expected.

However, to add insult to injury, Comcast then went and charged me $25 for a 'returned check fee'.

Unbelievable!!

Just a few hours ago I also got the call telling me I was eligible to for a 50% discount on my Xfinity/Comcast account. I did not pick it up, they left me a voicemail. When I checked the number that the call came in on it  is from somebody else in Tennessee even though this call originated in Florida and when I checked the number that they told me to call back it is nonexistent.

Just received the same 50% scam call this morning. If this is only targeting Comcast customers, then there is definitely a data leak. I recommend changing your account passwords immediately.

I received a variation of this offer today, as voicemail directing me to call [Edited: "Personal Information"]. I did, and gave my approximate monthly payment and zip code. They had my phone number via caller ID, of course. They knew my name and exact last payment. That's not good. I agreed to the offer of 50% off for 2 years. Finally I was asked to pay the first 6 months in advance, using a gift card. That convinced me it's a scam. I was asked to buy a Target gift card, call the "billing department" at [Edited: "Personal Information"] x1, give a confirmation code and read the gift card code to them. I'm not going to do that. I was told I would not be asked to whom the payment would be made, only for the confirmation code. That sounds like they're taking money from multiple scams.

Next, I received an email from [Edited: "Personal Information"] saying my current bill was paid. It contained the exact amount of my last bill, the correct last 4 digits of my account number and my billing email address. That's not good. Thankfully, the email contained the wrong last 4 digits of my bank account, and today's date, not the date I actually paid by credit card.

I also received a text message confirming my payment, sent to my mobile phone, not the phone from which I called the scammers.

The scammers have account data from Comcast's database, and can send messages impersonating Comcast. Comcast really should get to the bottom of that. I would be happy to supply SMTP headers from the email.

@kilo58 It gets worse. The scammer changed my automatic payment information, from a credit card to a fraudulent bank account. Consequently, Comcast is now charging me $25 because they tried and failed to pay my previous bill from the fraudulent bank account. That means the scammers can change my account information! This is really bad, not to mention it's costing me money.

@kilo58 I sent two emails to abuse-at-comcast-dot-net but received no response. I called the telephone number on my monthly statement. The robot refused to connect me with a human being. Instead, it texted me a URL which led to a chat session with a robot. I fought my way to chat with a human being, after waiting in a queue of 154 customers. The human finally credited my account for the returned eCheck/EFT charge. Overall, about two hours down the drain.

Got a robo-call that left a similar message. Curious to know if it’s legit. The callback number they left doesn’t match the calling number, though, and there was no caller ID name. Very suspect.

I received the same scam phone call also on my voicemail. How did they know that I am a Xfinity customer? There must be a data leak or this is being perpetrated by rogue Comcast employees.
