Xfinity recorded only one part of crossover event TV program

Last night the Law & Order series had a 3-part crossover event.

I scheduled part-1 (Law & Order: Organized Crime) to record as a one time program at 7:00pm.
I scheduled part-2  (Law & Order: SVU) to record as a one time program at  8:00pm.
Part -3 (Law & Order) is set to record all new episodes. It should have recorded at 9:00pm.

Only Part -1 got recorded.

Why did Xfinity delete the other 2 scheduled recordings? Especially part-3 which is set to record all new episodes, and it does show up to record next week.

Thank you for brining this to our attention, @user_d0605e. Will you please double-check how much space is available on your DVR to record? Is it still "scheduled" at all?

I had planned to watch these On Demand today. But only SVU was available there. What happened to the other two parts? NBC usually has these programs available. This needs to be fixed right away! Thank you.

@Lanka I am sorry that you are having trouble as well with your recordings, this isn't the experience we want for our valued customers.

Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

Same here! And the audio on my Part 1 recording also cut off for 5 minutes towards the beginning of the episode...I was able to at least watch Part 2 on demand, but now when I go to Part 3 under the original law and Order series, it says it's only available to buy???

@user_29ac4c I only got the second part to record not even the first which ruins it. I didn’t get part 3 either I noticed this has happened to other shows I’ve set up to record like the reality shows on Bravo I can’t watch new episodes only the ones they that are called “never seen before…..” it’s stopped recording the actual show 😡😡😡 and I have plenty of room on my system xfinity is nailing its own coffin I am feeling the push to leave them Consolidated is way cheaper and way faster streaming and customer service in the USA!!

Same thing happened to me!  I actually have set recordings for all new episodes on all 3 series. L&O, SVU, and Organized Crime.... But somehow it only recorded Part 1 at 8pm and says it's Organized Crime.  Did not record the other 2 parts!

So annoyed that now I have to watch on demand and have to watch some commercials that I can't fast-forward through... Ugh

Hello @Lsantiago_21, and sorry for the trouble with this series of recording. Have you been able to access all the content at this time through On Demand? I appologize for the experience this has given you, and hope it's not a repeat experience.

I’m 100% sure this was deliberate by Comcast-Xfinity to drive traffic to Peacock. I had all 3 shows scheduled, then put svu to record again after it didn’t start recording and mothership too. Nothing recorded except Crime.

@user_440bad if Comcast wanted to do that, it would have recorded just the first part, to get people to watch the other two. Airing just the conclusion would, if anything, keep people from wanting to watch the other two.
My guess is, it was a mistake made by whoever coded the TV listings the guide uses, as obviously the DVR thought it was three airings of the same episode of the same show. This is probably also why it wouldn't record the first two shows after you scheduled them a second time. At least TiVo has the option to record "every episode, including duplicates," but asking for Comcast to change its DVR capabilities is like talking to a brick wall; a number of us have been asking for over a decade to add some sort of step-by-step advancing.

@user_440bad Hello and thank you for reaching out over our Xfinity Community Forums. I am so sorry to hear that your shows did not record as expected. I just wanted to ask, have you experienced issues with any other programs not recording as scheduled? -Christopher

@ThatDonGuy

“if Comcast wanted to do that, it would have recorded just the first part to get people to watch the other two.” That’s exactly what they did, of the 3 shows only Crime recorded so we needed to watch svu and L&O on Peacock. Comcast is getting ready to start charging for Peacock subscription, that would be the last subscription I would want to get. I’m OK to watch sometimes for free as they have decent shows on occasion. For NBC shows, watching on DVR is much better than forced ads on Peacock.

Flex and X1 customers have access to Peacock Premium included at no additional cost (a $4.99 per month value). Have you tried to reboot your primary DVR?

@user_440bad ohhh for sure this was a planned deliberate function it happened to too many customers. I only got part 2 to record and I’ve always recorded the show with NO issues but lately Xfinity has [Edited: "Language"] up all my recording of Bravo network too.  They are only recording “the never before seen “episode of all my reality shows I have always had set to record and WONT let me go back and watch any of the not recorded even “on Demamd”!!!!!! GIVE ME BACK WHAT I AM PAYING FOR !!!!!!!!!!

Same thing happened here.  Only the first part recorded.  They're all scheduled to record next week as they should but Xfinity dropped the ball this week.

Same thing happened to me as everyone above. I checked all the recordings scheduled before I went to bed the night before, and all 3 episodes were scheduled. When I got home Thursday night, it only recorded the one episode of Organized Crime. Friday night I was able to watch the other 2 Law & Order shows on demand. This is a Comcast problem, but as reading the responses by Xfinity above, it seems like they don't want to take blame for it and also it seems like they have no explanation for it.

Comcast gets the guide data from a 3rd party. That 3rd party gets their data from the networks and local stations. Every show and episode has unique ID codes. It's possible that due to the crossover, the episodes may have used the same ID code, causing the scheduler to get confused and treat the second and third parts as duplicates and ignored them.

@andyross I only got part 2 not parts 1 and 3.  Sorry I can’t accept that excuse they have [Edited: "Language"] up allllll my recording for the last 3 months of the reality tv shows on the Bravo network too only recording “the never before seen” episodes and WON’t allow me to watch the ones THEY DID NOT RECORE even “on demand” I can’t stream any of the missing episodes😡😪😪😪😪 seems to me I’m being forced to leave them for a BETTER company that cares more for their customers than their wallet. I pay $250/month for xfinity for this kind of service ??  I’ve only stayed because of convenience well convenient or not CONSOLIDATED HERE I COME they are waaaaay better and faster of an internet provider using fiber optics too ohh did I mention they have a USA based customer service too 🤭👏👏👏

This also happened to us! We only got pt 1&3 recorded and had to go hunt down pt 2. It’s like SVU doesn’t exist for us.

@user_882aa2 This is getting strange. Some people say they only got the first episode; some say they only got the third; now you are saying that you got both the first and the third.

@user_f361c2 Thank you for reaching out to us here at the Xfinity Forums regarding this issue with this specific recording of the 3-part event. For this week's recording, could you provide additional details on what exactly is taking place that is not allowing you to set a recording for regular Law and Order?

The usual broadcast order is the regular L&O, then SVU, then Crime. But the day in question had the order reversed which probably didn't help.

It happened again this week. Law and order SVU did not record last week nor did it record again this week. 2 weeks in a row it didn’t record. However reruns that are marked as “new” on USA record which is annoying because those episodes are not new.
