Xfinity charging for INSP

I just received an email from INSP that Xfinity is going to charge $10 for INSP even though INSP doesn’t charge Xfinity for their programming. I don’t want that to happen. Why would Xfinity do that?

I don’t understand making INSP a pay channel. Not happy with Xfinity right now!!!  Just too expensive to even watch tv.

Hello @user_063e62 My apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. I know channel moves can be confusing. I have a link that goes over the change with the INSP network which is moving to our More Sports and Entertainment package.  https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/insp-moved-package.

I also have a link that goes over our More sports and entertainment package and the channels that's included https://www.xfinity.com/hub/tv-video/xfinity-sep-sports-and-more.

I am happy to confirm if you already have this package in your subscription and to see the price difference if any. Can you please direct message me your first and last name along with your full service address so that I can assist you further?

I did that already with a rep on chat. He first said it's included in my Ultimate package. Then he said no, it's in the new paid package. I had to submit and pay the $10 - my elderly mother of 89 with dementia needs that channel.

I'm looking into FIOS for my next switch. I know their guide is horrible but I use a PC with Windows Media Center so there will be no change to me. I'll also benefit from way faster upload speeds on FIOS, something Comcast will never match.

I've been with Comcast for over 20 years here in Boston (had no choice). You would think this means something to a company. No, not when the company has a monopoly. You need them and they know it. Now with FIOS, we'll see if Comcast changes their ways.

I've been a long time customer of Comcast and I started to look to replace Xfinity due to, Xfinity moving INSP into your sports/entertainment package.  I don't want that package.  It's a basic channel and you guys don't seem to care!  I am not buying that package, so I have started to look to replace my internet, alarm and TV.

  • Come on, Xfinity, don’t make me upgrade and pay more to watch INSP! Move them back to the package they were on so I can keep watching my favorite channel!

Greetings, @user_56e39c! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about this programming change. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

I apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused. We regularly review our channel lineups and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of content at the best value. As part of those regular reviews, we made the decision to move INSP to the More Sports & Entertainment Package.

If you like, I would be more than happy to go over any options available for adding this package to your lineup. There may be an additional charge involved with an upgrade like this, but we may also be able to find a package or promotion to help offset the cost. Please let me know if you'd like us to look into this for you.

@XfinityJamesC , quit acting like we are all idiots. You do not move old black and white westerns to a sports package to improve the experience of senior citizens, nor does anyone believe people who purchase sports packages are looking for old westerns to improve their experience. It’s pure greed on the part of Comcast. Listen to us, we will cut the cable and learn to stream for far less money than we are now paying you. We aren’t paying an extra $9.95 because we don’t have it. My bill has gone from $219 to $268 in the last 18 months with no additional services. I’m comparing streaming services tonight. You get INSP at no charge to you, shame on you for trying to get more money from people on fixed incomes for your greed. Whoever decided this was a good idea needs to be fired. I have read that Comcast is losing subscribers all the time, this move will cost you more from those of us who have been loyal to you for over 25 years.

Hi, @user_bde30d! We appreciate you for spending your time today to contact XFINITY over our forums' page for help with seeing why INSP isn't working with you on the Sports Entertainment package. I would be wondering the same thing if I am not getting a channel that I am supposed to be getting. We are the right team to help with this. Can you tell me if you are seeing an error code or an error message? Are you experiencing this issue on multiple set top boxes?

Removing a channel once you got a contact seems like it would void it. Stupid .I spent three hours last mths because of my bill.

Unbelievable, just trying to charge more to the folks on a fixed income and older adults that enjoy the old westerns.  So sad.

This is ridiculous! My dad has been watching this channel forever. He just found out that it is now a channel you have to subscribe to. He said he's going to cancel this with this cable company. They wanna start charging for everything nowadays! Cable is too expensive already.

I just upgraded my Xfinity in August. It wasn't working and went for several weeks and a new tech came out to reinstall. Now they took anyway INSP. I feel cheated. I called and just got a cold response. I can't understand how a western channel is included in sports. Need to start finding a new was way to receive cable. I have been with Xfinity before it was Xfinity. It's been over 30 years and it does not know how to treat it's customers and charges way too much for way too little.

I contacted  insp. They said they charge zero for their  channel for comcast. People need to complain this is ridiculous.  We want that channel  back. There's alot of competition  now with streaming.

I agree -- As a comcast customer for over 40 years this change is not fair to anyone.   I watch INSP a lot and have the Ultra Channel package that I pay extra for. Now Xfinity has moved this INSP channel of older western TV shows and Very old western movies to a PAID extra option add-on, which is ridiculous and just a sign of pure greed on Xfinity's part.  The only option is to add this additional Sports and Entertainment package for $ 9.95 month, which is a waste of money for ONE channel because I get more than enough  sports shows/news and games now on my current package.  Also, a lot of the current channels are just junk or paid ad channels like HSN, QVC, cartoons, kid shows, etc. that I never watch.  I will be looking for a valid replacement for Comcast TV as well as internet since they have dropped two local channels in the last 60 days.   My view is enough is enough and Xfinity really does not care about its customers or trying to keep them.  The other options are ATT, direct TV, Utube TV, Roku, Prime, etc. that are knocking on the door.
