I received an email stating that Xfinity is canceling its prepaid TV app.  Has any other users received this message?

Hi @User_45632RW, thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. Welcome to the community! I certainly understand how frustrating it can be to lose a service you have enjoyed for a while.

Effective December 16, 2021, Prepaid Instant TV will no longer be available to existing Prepaid Instant TV customers. However, you will have the option to use XUMO, a free streaming service that provides over 200+ premium channels of Live and On Demand content spanning 12 genres.

No need to sign up to XUMO. You can launch the app from your Smart TV or download it from your mobile device and will have instant access to explore free content. This link will provide you a list of compatible devices and an overview of the service https://comca.st/3EEOzGc. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for being a loyal Comcast customer.

That's a great question, @User_45632RW. At this time we show that Xumo offers local news via the news outlets, however, as for local channels, you can use the following link https://comca.st/3ESRdbD to view the channels available for your device specifically through them.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Xumo form of local channels is Chicago LA San Francisco New York and one more big city for people like me that live in Peoria Illinois we get zero local news stations. When I called Xfinity and question the same issue they tried to sign me up for a postpaid program. My personal opinion Xfinity chose to do away with the prepaid TV service because they were not making the money on the equipment fees that they used to charge for having Xfinity cable. The technicians that I talked to tried to tell me that Xfinity created the app Xumo when the app has been around for years. Xfinity had nothing to do with the development of this app. They said that they sent out emails months beforehand I keep all my Xfinity emails and not a single one even mention that they were doing away with the Xfinity prepaid TV.

Is there a reason why Xfinity got rid of their prepaid service?

Our apologies for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused. We re-evaluate our products and services we offer and make changes based on feedback and business demands. We still offer our prepaid internet service, which can be used along with XUMO.

I no longer work for Comcast.

This was such a great service and to just stop it wasn't fair to those who could only pay for the service this way. I am one of those people, I had regular service years ago then lost my job and my bills piled up and my service got cut-off. Xfinity pre paid was a great help for me and now its gone all the other cable services are so expensive and hard to keep up with. I hope you guys will one day bring it back.

rhnddl702 Thank you for the feedback. We evaluate our products and services quite frequently, to see what works best for our customers. We have introduced some other options you might like that come with our Flex services. This would be the Peacock platform, https://comca.st/3EQdq9r. With our integration with the Flex box this has been a great way to view a variety of TV and movies at no additional cost when using the Flex services. Are you familiar with these options?
