WHY IS COMCAST CHANGING TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES TO SPORTS PACKAGE IN OCTOBER?
I just received a notice from Comcast that they are removing TCM, Turner Classic Movies, from all current packages and moving it to the SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGE? What possible logic is there to that brilliant change? TCM is widely viewed by many Comcast subscribers on their regular packages--NOT SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGE! I URGE COMCAST TO LEAVE TCM WHERE IT IS. I am seriously considering cancelling my Comcast subscription over this.

I've only had Xfinity a little over 6 months. It seems ridiculous that I have to purchase a "Sports Entertainment" package to get TCM a movie channel I had up until 4 days ago. I will definetly be dropping cable once my contract is done. It seems like a one way deal with these guys.

Comcast's latest move of removing TCM from my package and moving it to a Sports Package is the last straw for me. I've seen some Comcast answers indicating that the average number of TCM movies viewed per month was 2. Not sure where you get your data from but I am certain that there are channels that you can remove from my lineup that I have never viewed, never will or in a language I don't understand. This move is a ploy to get more out of us. I don't need or want the Sports Package but I do want TCM. I will trade you 100 of the stations I have and don't view for TCM.
With all the competition from streaming services you would think you would want to keep your customers happy. Baffling that you made this latest move. I am searching for an alternative to Xfinity and will be cancelling my service once that is done. And yes, I will incur the contract cancellation fee - that's how angry I am about TCM.

To whom it may concern: please view this message as a formal protest/complaint, of the decision to remove Turner Classic Movies from the channel line-up, (with no notice,or warning), and to group it into an additional cost sporting package. This decision will reflect on my renewal of services.
Thank you.

I don't know if this will be locked or deleted so their for I didn't put the word TCM in subjeect line. I am furious about Xfinity removing TCM from the line. When I switched from Dish to Xfinity my first question was if they had TCM. Yes of course! Well my contract is up in 3 months. No Christmas Thanksgiving or Halloween Scary movies to enjoy with my family and let's not forget the February oscar movie line up. Today I saw a show on PBS about Historical Facism by Rick Steves and it became obviously clear to me that this is one step closer to us losing our insight to historical past events! The movies from the 30 and 40 give us great education to who we were and what we overcame. The 50s and 60 an d 70s tackled american social issues. Lost is the educational opportunity. I'm not a senior citizen as desribed by the Comcast customer service rep explaining the audience of today. He was a fool to believe Comcast numbers. Fake news. Yesturday I was in Costco and they are promoting Atnt/Direct T.V. and on their basic tier is TCM. They even offered me money to switch right now. Thinking about it. I love the XFINITY internet but the TV wasn't as good as Dish so maybe it's time. Bring back TCM away froma sports package into standard packaging or loose one more customer.

I agree! Everyone of ALL ages is furious. They make this a senior thing. You understand why the younger generation is only watching apps.

I want to share with you the reply I received from Xfinity Corporate addressing my 10-12 post on this issue, and I am also sharing my reply back to them. THEIR REPLY:
Good morning
My name is Ciera with the Office of Tom Karinshak and I appreciate you taking the time to contact us. I understand that you are upset due to Turner Classic Movies moving to our Sports and Entertainment Package. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that has been caused by this experience. As a consumer myself, I know how frustrating it can be to lose one of your favorite channels. I am more than happy to address your concerns.
We provided notice to all of our customers that TCM would be moving on their August billing statements. Your statement printed on August 27, 2019 and you will see the notice on page 4 of 4. We highly recommend all of our customers review their billing statement as we put important notices such as channel changes and rate increased on your bill.
All of our service agreements state the following: You will receive the Services listed in the Offer at the price(s) and subject to the conditions indicated in the Offer and as identified in the Order Confirmation. Other Services included in the Order Confirmation that are not part of the Offer are subject to the prices and terms for those Services as indicated in the Order Confirmation. Comcast may rearrange, delete, add to or otherwise change programming or features or offerings contained in its Services. You can view your service agreements at any time by logging in to Xfinity.com, going to settings, and then clicking on legal agreements on the left side of the screen.
Every month, Comcast pays programmers like networks, local TV station owners and others, for the ability to bring their programming to you. We regularly review our programming and sometimes make changes to ensure we're offering a wide variety of programming at the best value. We look at a variety of factors, including customer viewership and programming costs when making these decisions. Viewership of TCM is low, as over 90% of our customers watch less than two movies per month. Given this and contractual limitations on offering TCM a la carte, we decided to move TCM to the Sports Entertainment Package, which will help us manage programming costs that are passed on to our customers while continuing to make the channel available to those who want to watch it.
While our Sports and Entertainment Package includes some popular sports channels, like NFL Red Zone and some college sports networks, in most areas, it also offers several non-sports channels, like Military History, Crime & Investigation and CM. I hope this information was helpful in understand why TCM was moved into the Sports and Entertainment package.
I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. Thank you for being part of the Comcast family!
Sincerely,
Ciera H.
Office of Tom Karinshak
MY REPLY BACK:
I appreciate your taking the time to reply to me, Ciera, and am sending you a brief follow-up reply. First, I regret that you basically repeated the canned, bromide rationale for moving TCM which I requested you to not repeat in my original email on this matter. Second, the fine legal print that you quote was in no way easily visible to us when we made the package deal with Xfinity; in any event, it is significant enough that it should be disclosed verbally. Third, I am being billed paperlessly, and my August online billing statement makes no mention of the TCM change. Fourth, and most importantly: where do you get this data that 90% of your customers view less than 2 movies per month??!! This appears to be unfortunate fake news. If it were true, why would I have STARZ included in my package and Showtime on a trial basis? You have countless pay-for-view movie offerings. This statistic that you state is suspiciously untrue, I would say.
So now I will consider whether to back out of the package agreement with Xfinity, and if I do so, it will be with no early termination fees, you can be sure.
*********
What more can I say, folks, except that you all keep complaining about this.

I have the Digital Preferred Tier With Starz.
I see on the new bill that Starz and Encore are being eliminated, and that Starz is being replaced by EPIX on, among other cable plans, the Digital Premier Tier. Does that include the Digital Preferred Tier that I have since it includes Starz? In other words, will EPIX be included in my Digital Preferred Tier in place of Starz? I'd appreciate any information, thank you.

I want to add my protest to the others regarding your arrogant and cavalier action. I signed up for and am paying for a specific selection of channels. If you don't like your deal any longer, you should renegotiate; not just make unilateral changes to try to manipulate me into giving you even more moiney. I don't care about your fine print. That should cover things outside your control; not changes you make at your own option.
So I add my voice to the other extremely dissatisfied customers: PUT IT BACK!!!
I'll remember this as other options develop for me.

You couldn't have said it better... totally agree! If they are switching up channels in the lineup we are currently paying for- why not grandfather in those people in? We are not getting what we signed up for! Period. Shame on Xfinity.
