WHY IS COMCAST CHANGING TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES TO SPORTS PACKAGE IN OCTOBER?

I just received a notice from Comcast that they are removing TCM, Turner Classic Movies, from all current packages and moving it to the SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGE?    What possible logic is there to that brilliant change?  TCM is widely viewed by many Comcast subscribers on their regular packages--NOT SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGE!  I URGE COMCAST TO LEAVE TCM WHERE IT IS.  I am seriously considering cancelling my Comcast subscription over this.    Get real Comcast and leave TCM alone.  Seriously!

The whole idea of tying it to sports is really insane. I'm wondering whether money is involved in this crazy idea.

I posted earlier, that I believe those of us who primarily watch TCM, are loyal customers. With so many young people cutting cable for streaming., They've got to squeeze the most out of those who are left. I also mentioned when I called yesterday I was told that TCM was responsible for this. Not buying that one. I am like the rest of you, tolerated alot for cable for many many years...this is really a slap in the face, and an obvious example of greed and taking advantage of a specific population. Shame on Comcast.

I don't watch sports. I watch TCM. Thanks a lot Comcast and keep the prices going up.

TCM is one of the only channels we watch on our already $195 monthly bill.  We too have hung in there with rate hikes, bad service, and more.  😞   So, so, so, angry, and frustrated.  It's always one thing after another.  Thank you Comcast for providing the motivation to finally cut the cord.  There's nothing worth watching on your lousy line up.

I NEVER received a notice that TCM was being removed from my channels. When I called the woman read me a reply from management why the change. Had to stop her when she said TCM was receiving low viewership. Which does not make sense There are channels like viceland, axstv and MiND tv that I never watch and yet they are on my channel list. Comcast if you are reading this. STOP IT before you lose more members. Just because you want to make an extra $10 a month from your members will not justify the lost of revenue from members that are leaving you for Hulu or Direct TV

Just found out that Comcast has done the classic bait and switch.  Can't wait for my current subscription to expire so I can dump it.

With TCM moved to a "sports package" , where is my ala carte option to just keep TCM? Are you also dropping the cost of my over $260 package as well? ( Only a double play subscription). You didn't discount my subscription when cinemax was removed. What is my discount for dropping HITZ which isn't really a channel? You really know how to move a customer to take drastic actions...

After 17+ years I switched to Comcast Cable to save money (in a package deal).  In that time I have had the following problems (since May 2019)

  • More outages and technical problems than I every recall having with DishTV in the 17 years I have had them.
  • When trying to remove billing for a second TV Comcast accomplished this  C omcast acomplished this by changing me to a different package, with less channels than what I was contracted for.
  • Problems getting HD programming, even though I am paying for it.
  • Loosing Starz, WGN America and a number of other channels which i had previously
  • Lossing TCM, which I had previously.

There is NO doubt in my mind that when I move I am going back to DishTV!  There is no doubt in my mind that I ma canceling the security system, (which was part of my cost savings package and which offers lousy service compared to ADT)

I am also planning to do the following and I suggest any of you who are as most disturbed about Comcast as I am also do:

  • Filing a complaint with my state's attorney general's office.  Even though Comcast is a national company they still have to abide my state laws and regulations.
  • Filing a complaint with the FCC (Federal Communications Commision).

Make your voices heard.  Heck, I might even write a letter to Donald Trump!  He has a reputation for telling folks what he thinks!.

This is so absurd. My bill has more than doubled and now they're pulling one of the best things. We are moving in the spring and there is NO WAY we will sign with Comcast. Just a bunch of Pirates.

I agree. I didn’t realize this had happened until I tried to watch TCM this afternoon. I’m so frustrated. TCM has been a go to channel for us for 15 years. It shouldn’t be a premium option. It’s basic cable stuff. I’m going to the Google fiber store this week to check my options.

I can’t believe after 30+ years of paying extra for Comcast cable they take away the one channel I truly value. It seems like I’m going to be forced to cut the wire now...

I don't have a question .... I have a statement.

Making TCM part of a sports package is ridiculous. I watch TCM regularly and have no interest in supporting sports channels or the associated overpayed sports personalities at all.

Xfinity is going to force me to start looking into streaming services whether I want to or not. It is hard for me to see this as anything other than an attempt to get more people to pay for sports networks that are way overpriced ... even though the offical statement would make you believe the opposite.

Xfinity is going to lose customers ... just accelerating the trend away from the wire.

This is just another dumb idea from Comcast to get more money for less service.  I just resigned but am willing to pay the cancel fee just to dump them.

There are several internet services that provide TCM as part of their packages. If your only high speed internet option is from comcast you will still have to pay them for interent to use this services. You can read more info here:  https://flixed.io/watch-tcm-without-cable/
